ChrisChick13, We’ve done 4 labs so far, and we’re in the middle of two labs right now. We are in the middle of the Artificial Selection from chapter 22, and the Population Genetics lab, to end chapter 23 of microevolution.

Twiggy22, Wow, the labs help demonstrate the four main points/topics in AP Biology, and it’s really important to have labs. Since it’s the new curriculum, no one really knows if there are going to be any questions about the REQUIRED labs in AP Biology. It’s important to perform the required labs from the College Board.

I am taking AP Biology this year as a sophomore. It seems really fun so far and our teacher is really good. We are currently finishing the chapter on the creation of earth and life forms.

My school does AP bio/IB bio SL in one class, and everyone does the same stuff…does anyone else’s school do that? As such, even though I’m in AP Bio, we have to do Internal Assessments as well. Our teacher hinted that we wouldn’t be doing many labs apart from the IA’s. Is IA experience really helpful, or it is completely different from stuff that we would do in a normal AP Bio class?

The 2012 AP Bio test was lab heavy as the last 26 MC all had to do with the labs, but the quick Cliff’s cram was as good as doing the actual labs…

Tangentline, labs are very important, our teachers stress this a lot.

On the revised AP Biology exam, there won’t be 100 (I think the old test had 100 MC questions, right?) MC questions, now there will be 63 MC, and 6 grid-in questions. For the free response, there are 2 extended response questions, and 6 short answer questions.

I think a new Kaplan one is coming out in late December and I think a barrons one is coming out in February. I’m holding off on buying a prep book like those because the test changed from last year, but I’m probably going to buy cliff notes or the crash course book now to help me study for in-class tests and stuff since they’re pretty cheap.

Okay, just had my first test. It was on Chapters 2, 4 & 5 in Campbells, so in other words…chemistry. I aced the multiple choice, but free response was iffy. Overall I did fine but I’m a senior and I took chemistry sophomore year (physics junior year) so I was a bit rusty. Hopefully we move onto something awesome after this.

I have a 15 question quiz tomorrow on photosynthesis. You may not think that it’s much, but our teacher was out the entire week last week. Also, we usually have a short quiz everyday, but tomorrow we will have a quiz that is 3 times as long as our normal ones.

Just because the test format changed, doesn’t mean we’re going to be tested on entirely new content, lol. Sure, some topics are emphasized more than other in this year’s exam, but Cliffnotes, Barron’s, etc. would probably be good even if they are not for this year’s exam.

We’re on Chapter 6 right now. I’ve aced both chapter tests (we had tests on 3 and 4), but this chapter seems a bit tougher. It’s rote memorization.

We are on cellular respiration in my class now … and the class is tough definatly … but managable … in my bio class we have a quiz everyday and on mondays we have the test … we are on chapter 9 now … cellular respiration … I have a 88% (B+) so i think im doing pretty good lol

Twiggy, my class is also on cellular respiration, and our test is tomorrow. I have an 87%, which isn’t bad because I bombed one test because I forgot to read chapter 3, classic move for me. Flashcards are God though, this class has taught me that at least.

So, apparently, 1/4th of our class time is going to spent on labs. That’s what my teacher said, and I’m going to be bored out of my mind. I absolutely dislike labs, mainly because my teacher explains them in a confusing manner.

We have our Chapter 6 test (parts of the cell) on Wednesday.

we have our first test on chapters 22, 23, 24 and 25 on Tuesday. I hate evolution, I can’t stand it, so… I’m hoping for at least a C on this test.

What do you guys do to study for a unit test? We are using Campbell’s Biology 9th Edition. I got a C on the last tests multiple choice. I am wondering what you guys do to ace the multiple choice? I’m not used to struggling in a class. Thanks

To do we on tests, I make Flashcards, lots on them. On one side I have the word and the chapter number, on the other is the definition. It’s a pain, but they really help. I also do this for lists, for example, what do plant cells have that animal cells don’t, and vice versa. They’re so good other people want to borrow mine all the time.
