*** Official AP Biology Thread 2012-2013 ***

We just started taking notes on natural selection lol

We just finished up Chapter 5 (which had a long reading guide). We’re getting tested on Unit 1 on Tuesday and I have to go in and take the Chapter 5 test because I was absent on Thursday.
Ehehe wish me luck… :)

Dudeeee. We are on chapter 7 reading, but the teacher just finished chapter 3 lecture. Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

Summer reading assignment : First 8 Chapters

2 part test in the first week of school.

First day of class is tomorrow, and we start our first lab the next day, I believe. I had summer work, but only two chapters. Not too bad. Also been using Khan Academy to get ahead a little bit. Quiz on the first two chapters tomorrow too!

First day of school, got pretest on chem/biochem stuff. I don’t think my teacher understands the new curriculum…he just said stuff was being cut out and we didn’t have to do as much…someone asked him why…and he said that the college board realized they put too much stuff in the curriculum.

I don’t start school until thursday and I still have to do all my summer work.

For those who started, how is it? Is it easy, hard, a lot of work?

^ It is a lot of work lol, it can get really frustrating at some points, but as long as you ask for help and read, you’ll be fine. We started on chapter 22 and I HATE evolution, It doesn’t really click for me, so it’s really frustrating to me lol.

Yea for my summer work it seems that I have to do Unit 5 and a huge packet. Looks like a lot so I better get started.

lol we are in the middle of chapter 5 now (macromolecules) … talking bout lipids and etc. idk call me crazy but so far i like biology and i find everything interesting lol

I have some bad news. My AP Biology class is gone… People were complaining that it was too hard, and everyone wanted to switch out. Instead of letting them switch out, counselors just decided to make my AP Biology class an Honors class. So, I’m not #teamAPBiology anymore… =(

^ That sucks, sorry. A lot switched out of my class too, but they didn’t change the class lol.

Ouch. I’ve had only 2 days of school so far. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be that bad :C

damn lol i started school on the 8/20 lol … nd in my Ap bio we have a ch.5 test on monday ( 9/10 ) … and alot of people switched out but like nows theres only bout 20 people in the class  … so far i have a 90% in the class … hopefully this test will bring it up  … i love my teacher for the test nd quizes we right our answers on the answer sheet and the quiz and when we turn in our answer sheet she gives us the actual answer sheet so we see wht we got wrong ASAP :D

when are the new prep books released?

^I heard in January.

Yeah, new review books will be out in either January or February, but Princeton Review 2013 is out now, but DON’T bother getting it. I think Cliff’s and Barron’s will still be the way to go.

I heard that TPR 2013 Edition still contains the same contents as its 2012 Edition…

How many labs have you guys done so far? My school started on the 3rd and we’ve already completed two labs and are working on an ongoing lab that will last about 8 weeks. My teacher is amazing! Class is tough, but I’d rather be prepared.

my school Ap bio teacher said that we might not have time to do any labs … that she will try to fit in labs to her curriculm but tht theres no promise … would it be a problem for the Ap exam if i have no lab experience ?
