Yea, I reckon my teacher would do the same. When she photocopies practice questions from a prep book she doesn’t let us keep it because of “copyright”

Guys, study your acids/bases, equilibrium, and redox. We took the sample test in class and so much of it was from those 3 sections. If there was a group of multiple questions pertaining to a single data table or picture, it was almost always a titration curve, a reversible reaction, a galvanic cell, etc (anything from the categories I named). Good luck!

P.S. I have a Barron’s book that was “updated” for the new exam, and although I haven’t gone through much of it, it doesn’t seem like it will be very helpful. The diagnostic test was incredibly simple and had far more math and calculations, and far less theory and critical thinking, than the practice exam from CollegeBoard had.

@axlintz It would be very helpful if you could post the practice exam.

+1 for a copy of the test

The curve is going to be more of a bell curve, so more people who would usually get 1s will get 2s and 3s, but most people who’d get 5s are going to get 4s and 3s. It’s going to be similar to the new AP Bio curve… Probably only 5% or so will get 5s…

For 2014 Practice Exam, does any one know the curve?

For example, one has to get how many percentages correct to get a score of 5?

How different is the 2014 practice exam from the previous exams? Not in terms of the layout and marking, but the actual questions? Are the free response questions harder or easier?

I think it’s 75% right but I’m not 100% sure…

@TanyaX the questions are more theory and concept-based, and less math and calculations.

I personally think the questions are harder since you really have to think and just not plug numbers into formulas. If you go on the AP Chem course page, there’s a course description link and there are 26 multiple choice questions and 4 frqs which you can practice.

75% right for a score of 5 is for the exams of previous years.

Is it true too for 2014 practice exam?

Does anyone know where I can get new AP Chemistry Practice besides from the course description? Should I just study past exams then?

“Cracking the AP Chemistry Exam, 2014 Edition (Revised)” is the new PR book that came out. It has 2 practice exams in it. Past exams are somewhat helpful in making sure you know the subject, though the new test has a completely different format. Practicing old frqs is pretty helpful too. They’re on the AP Chem course page.

@frtian well I think that it’ll be the same or a little higher, but the exam is harder overall.

So, is it harder or easier… My teacher tells me that the practice test seems easier therefore the actual exam will be easier too…
@meaa7130 what do you mean that it will be harder overall? What makes it hard?

Nearly everyone at my school has gotten all FRQ’s and Multiple Choice before every test; other than first period of course. We are predicting that the pass rate will be below 40% at our school this year. Good luck to everyone.

@KbbGrizzly Well first of all the curve will be lower, so less people will get 5s. Also the questions are more conceptual rather than math, and personally I find that harder. But it really depends on the person. It’s more analytical thinking than mindless solving problems.

Does anyone know what the frqs will be about? Will they be based more on labs or on just general content?

I have the official practice exam - it seems as though the FRQs are for both labs and general content. Some of them have you solve problems, while others have you analyze student’s labs and/or predict results. I think that a good understanding of all the concepts (as obvious as this might seem) would be the best way to approach the exam, not just solving a billion problems.

@JavaChip1 Can you post it?

@JavaChip1 Please post it if you can! It would be greatly appreciated!

I can’t post it, since only my teacher has complete access to it… I know what is on it though. I’d be happy to answer any questions you guys have about it!

Good luck with your last week of studying guys :)
