**OFFICIAL** AP Chemistry 2014 Thread

Anyone have a pdf of the REA Crash Course 2014?

If I find it first I’ll let y’all know.

I’m a junior taking the exam. I’m quite scared. I’m using Barron’s, and I started reviewing over break. Any other good resources out there? I know PR is outdated, but that’s about it.

Anyone also taking SAT II Chemistry?

I’m taking SAT II Chemistry in June but my chem teacher told me that it’s supposed to be 30-40% easier than the AP exam, and that studying for the AP exam should leave me extremely well prepared.

That said, I don’t at all feel prepared for the AP exam. I understand the chemistry and had As both semesters (we’ve finished all the tests and stuff for this semester) but I’m freaked out about the whole new-test, picture/lab-based-questions, longer-multiple-choice thing. I have no idea what to expect and it seems like no one else in my area does either :frowning: does anyone else have an idea of what to expect on the exam? Also, does Barron’s have questions based on labs and pictures?

@yoloyng if you’re teacher has an AP course audit, the College Board will provide a free AP Chem 2014 practice exam. Tell her to search around the site.

Can anyone post the most updated free AP chem 2014 practice test? Thanks!

@1517brancy‌ If no one has the pdf, you can get it through your teacher.

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it is more beneficial to study frqs or multiple choice? Even though I have an A in the class I feel that I am lacking sound conceptual knowledge on some of the topics, since our teacher has severely underprepared us by making the tests and lectures extremely formulaic, if you get what I mean

Thanks

Its the official course description and towards the end you will see practice questions for the new exam.
I have used the Barron’s book and it seems to be useful for multiple choice but, I felt that the free response questions were not like the collegeboard released sample questions.
Also, Barrons has Organic Chem and Nuclear in their book which is not going to be on the exam. However, the Barrons does seem to have more material than Princeton Review.
I got the new and revised 2014 Princeton Review AP chemistry book as well and it seems to be good for practice but not for material.
Use the Barrons multiple choice for practice, it is really good and it models the sample multiple choice given by the CollegeBoard.

Hi @DesiHero! Where does it say that O-Chem and Nuclear won’t be on the exam? I didn’t know this, and I just want to make sure, because then it would be 2 less sections I would focus on!

are there going to be a lot more lab-based questions?

For those of you who took the AP Bio exam in 2013, the format change is the same; more theoretical, and less emphasis on formulas. We took the first half of the 2014 AP Chemistry College Board Practice Test and it was a lot different from a released AP Chemistry Test from another year…

where did you get that practice test?

@MathGuy777 I just did a quick search through the AP Chem 2014 description and found no nuclear chemistry or organic on there. The Barrons seems to have good Multiple Choice but the Princeton Review has better FRQs, just compare them to the sample ones provided in the AP Chem 2014 exam description.

Hey guys! This year, I’m taking both the AP Chem and APES exams. I feel that I’m more prepared for APES than for AP Chem, but I’m not sure how hard the AP Chem alternate exam is gonna be this year. Do you think I should take AP Chem first (and do late testing for APES) or vice versa? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Does anyone have access to the AP Chemistry 2014 practice exam released by collegeboard?

@jsWizard‌ I’m doing the same thing… I’m taking APES late since my teacher already scheduled it.

Please somebody post a link to the AP Chemistry 2014 practice exam by collegeboard.

Is it even online???

Only teachers are allowed to access it because the 2014 Practice Exam is designated as a secure test by College Board. Hopefully your teacher can get it for you if you ask.

my teacher won’t allow me to take it out of the classroom…
