okay, thanks so much!

Surprisingly, I didn’t think the MC was too bad, but I didn’t really like the first two essays. The third one was pretty easy though. I used The Kite Runner for it.

Aw, that’s nice. I highly doubt they’d dock you points for that, if you answered all of the other questions and were just using the extra space.

Oh, and I used Othello for the last one. Pretty easy, I hope not too many people did that.

I thought the last MC passage was the worst. For my Q3, I wrote about 1984. For the first two, I really didn’t have a clue what to write until halfway through my essays, but once I understood it, it was smooth sailing. Overall, the test wasn’t too bad. I think I’ll get at least a 4, but I’m hoping for a 5!

@aypaytv I agree with sportsdude that you’ll be ok. Quality over quantity! My essays were all 1.5-2.5 pages for lang (I even insulted collegeboard in one of my essays), and I got a 5. Don’t stress

MC was super great for me, I really understood every piece, the last passage I had to go a bit faster, but ultimately I think if I were to have 10 more hours, every answer would be the same, and that’s a good feeling. I felt meh about my essays, and wrote on The Scarlet Letter for Q3. I found an AP Lit calculator (google) and messed around with it-feeling confident I got a 5 or 4.

@aypaytv there’s no way to tell you what you got based on that, but essays don’t necessarily need to be very long to get good scores.

@TRWhit Actually it will because Game of Thrones isn’t a book of literary merit according to college board. That essay probably won’t get any points at all. However, if you did well on the other questions and the MC you might be able to get a 3. It’s unlikely you’ll get a 4 and basically impossible you’ll get a 5.

The essay will get points. They’ll just cap off how much it gets. They’re not going to give him a straight up zero. My teacher said in one of their conferences they said the highest it will get is a 4.

@MonPetit I wrote about The Stranger too!

I thought MC was easy (not surprising because that’s my strength).
Essays were okay, but I’m not confident with my teacher’s approach. He has us only write two body paragraphs, and most of the example 9’s are 4+ pages…

I feel pretty confident. Can’t wait to be able to discuss the prompts and stuff though. MC was definitely harder than the essays, which I thought were a gift. I wrote about Wuthering Heights.
My prediction
35/55 MC
Essay 1 = 7
Essay 2 = 8
Essay 3 = 6

Ok, thanks! I figured that was the case; I just got worried.

@BassGuitar And another urban legend bites the dust. Not true.

Hello, all. I’m freaking out just a little, because during the AP English Lit Exam, after I had finished the last essay I had a few minutes left and got bored. On the last page in my answer booklet, I wrote a little note to the grader just thanking them for grading it and all that (just to break the monotony for them). I made it clear not to grade it, and in the little box at the top where you write question number, I put ‘‘none.’’ However, I did not cross it out. Will they still grade the paper? Will this come back to haunt me? I know it’s something small, and I know it was stupid, but I can’t help but worry. What do you all think?

I wrote mine about A Tale of Two Cities :P… I’m surprised nobody has done an essay about it yet!

bruh that first MC passage was so bad

I thought that this was easier than lang last year so I hope I got at least a 3. I thought my first two essays were pretty solid but the third one kind of threw me because none of the books I read could be used really well with this prompt. I think I spelled the main characters name wrong (From The Odyssey) and I think one of the examples I had wasn’t fully accurate. How much do you think the College Board will take off?

@mgcsoccer97

From last year’s scoring guide for an 8-9 essay
“Although these essays may not be error-free, they make a strong case for their interpretation and discuss the literary work with significant insight and understanding.”
I believe misspelled names fall into the category of permissible errors.

I used The Catcher in the Rye
