I didn’t see one already made, so I made one. I plan to self-study this next year; does anyone have any recommendations for a textbook or prep/review book?

Gl. I know that it’s a very easy class.

[Text Book-“An Introduction to Human Geography” Rubenstein - A.P. Human Geography](http://apgeohchs.■■■■■■■■■■/text-book-an-introduction-to-human-geography-rubenstein.html)

I’ll give you that textbook. It’s really good and most likely got me a 5. I also recommend the Barron’s but I can’t give you a copy of that XD.

Thanks for the resource, MovingtoTexas. Yeah I’ve heard it’s one of the easiest AP’s so that’s why I plan to to self-study. I’m assuming you self-studied also (because of the way you phrased your first sentence)… are the textbook and Barron’s all you needed?

I made a post on the 2012-2013 AP HG page with a ton of free online resources.

Here is the link to the post: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/1376989-official-ap-human-geography-2013-thread-4.html

Yeah I agree with MovingtoTexas, Rubenstein was a really helpful textbook for me. He gives tons and tons of examples, which is awesome for the CRQs and to just understand the stuff.

That entire book could be shorten to under 100 pages probably if you removed all the examples.

I will be in this class next year as a freshman! It will be my first AP class. I’m pretty excited. I plan on purchasing Barron’s to study for the exam.

Yeah, Barrons seems to best for AP Human.

Well, I hope so I haven’t looked at it yet.

I’m self studying too! the problem is, I’m also taking the class and test for AP us government. Just my luck, the two tests are scheduled for the same day this year. Not the same time, so I can’t do late testing. These will be my first ap tests and I’m kinda nervous about taking one after the other. Any tips?

I don’t have any super useful tips (it’s my first time testing, too), but since you are taking both tests the same day you can get them out of the way quickly :).

Taking this my senior year because it’s easy, I love the teacher and we take trips a lot. My friends didn’t really like this class when they took it as juniors, but I’m going for it. Oh I also have AP Gov, this , and AP French on the same day I believe so I’ll be late testing which sucks. Haven’t figured out which one yet, but probably can’t late test French because it’s such a small class already. One of my friends this past year had AP Bio and AP physics b on the same day so ill ask her more about it, but she’s a genius…

I got a prep book from Barron’s. I plan to self study and so far its going pretty good. I recommend it.

Should I get another book to supplement Barron’s? I really want to get a 5.

@jkpascale16 My brother self-studied with only the Barron’s review and got a 5.

Has anyone tried Princeton Review?

I am currently using Princeton Review. It seems to be good so far. I am using Human Geography People, Place, and Culture by deBlij as a comprehensive supplement. My AP Human Geo teacher said that <a href=“AP Human Geography - Mrs. Watson's Class - Social Studies - Lawton Chiles High School”>www.mrswatsonsclass.com/aphug/ was a good resource too.

Good Luck to all.
I really want a 5!

I’m most likely going to self-study this exam for next year I’m going to be a freshman, and even though I could have picked the course, my cousin advised me not to. However, since everyone says it’s really easy, I plan on self-studying it to get the AP credit :D

Would the Barron’s and Princeton Review be good enough to get a 5?

I’m taking this class in physical school, but my teacher hasn’t taught us anything the entire year. I really, really, really, really want a 5 though. Do any of you guys know if Princeton review alone will get me there? Thanks in advance.

Probably, from what I have heard, AP Human Geography has an insane curve.
@LosingCrayon in this exam, the Multiple Choice is more critical than the FRQs. Multiple choice is 75 questions. Aim for about 55 at the lowest, but to be really safe aim 60+. If you get 55-65 then you are in a good position for multiple choice.
As for prepping for multiple choice, use your logic and vocabulary to ace the questions. For material, use either Barron’s or Princeton Review (you are on the right track). I am personally using Princeton Review with a textbook supplement (Human Geography People, Place, Culture deBlij). I am basically trying to max out my multiple choice score trying for 68+ so I have leeway for the FRQs.

For the FRQs, my teacher said that the models would be very important to know, so make sure you look into that. And other things that would seem fair game like analyzing a map for migration patterns, push factors, pull factors, identifying religions based on maps, etc. For FRQs, if you have like 60-70% correct on each question (i.e 4/6, 5-6/8, 6-7/9) you should be set.

Combining the 60+ MCT and 60-70% FRQ you are safe for a 5.
You can play around with <a href=“AP Human Geography Test Score Calculator - AP Pass”>http://appass.com/calculators/humangeography/
to see your chances.

Some Links good for Self-Studiers

<a href=“AP Study materials - AP Human Geography”>http://aphumangeo.■■■■■■■■■■/ap-study-materials.html/
Obviously use the official released AP Exam on AP Central.
Also, try quizlet for free vocab.

The above link looks like a good one for models, kinda in-depth.

Good Luck to All
I too am a freshman I also have AP Government and Politics to worry about
Hope we all get 5s!

@alphabot Thank you so much for all of those helpful tips!!! I’m getting the Barron’s book soon. I’m going to self-study 4 APs, so I’m trying to starting early for all of them.

Do you think Barron’s would be enough, or should I get Princeton Review as well, to ensure I get a 5? I could probably use my school’s textbook if they have it in the library.

Good luck to those of you taking the exam next month! :D

I don’t really have experience with Barron’s but as always, I am sure it is very comprehensive. It is probably really good, as most of Barron’s books are. Princeton Review is very, simplistic and easy to understand it is 220+ pages so its not just a book with 80% practice test real estate. Speaking of practice tests, it contains 2. So, you should be good either or just make sure you know your material. I hear vocab is heavily emphasized. To be honest, most of it seems like common logic with some fancy vocab here and there current events always helps too.
As for checking out textbook, that seems fine but don’t get intimidated with all the in-depth information.

This is the REA Crash Course Book for Free on Scribd if you have an account (you can make free trial), it is in pdf format.
