Official AP Latin Vergil Thread

Hey guys! I'm sure most of you are not taking AP Latin, but if you are, then feel free to post! How are you feeling? Nervous? Calm? Excited? (Probs not the last one.)

Best of luck on fridayyyy!

C’mon guys!! Let’s show Latin some love!!

…

But yea, if you gave me a line of Virgil right now, I probably couldn’t translate it. It’s over for me. :(

ahh ikr! i am so so so nervous about this! any guesses on the passages?

I have no idea what passages are going to be on it.
So what are you guys doing to study this final day? I’m the same as 0123456789… I probably couldn’t translate any random line of Vergil! I’m just going to review the Vergil frequent words list, I guess, and hope for the best.

haha yeaa i got this prep book, but its not really helping and my teacher hasnt really done much to help us prepare…and i am so so so screwed for multiple choice since they are totally impossible…i’ll be overjoyed with a 3, so i’m keeping my fingers crossed for good passagesss! :)

I’m thinking about self studying Latin for next year’s AP through this: [Amazon.com: Learn to Read Latin: Textbook and Workbook Set (9780300103540): Andrew Keller, Stephanie Russell: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Learn-Read-Latin-Textbook-Workbook/dp/0300103549/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1273789742&sr=8-1)

What textbook do you guys use in your Latin classes, and is it a good one?

How can you even hope to study for this AP? Anyone from past AP Latin Vergil exams have any tips?

^Get Barbara Weiden Boyd’s selections from the Aeneid for AP and college use.

BTW, does anyone else agree with me that this is by far the hardest AP?

So nervous/unprepared for this exam! I found a good website with tons of study guides and links that might help you guys though:

Aeneid

This exam relies way too much on raw chance…

ah yeaa totally the hardest exam! there is absolutely no way to legitimately study. i heard from one kid who got a 5 and basically what he did was not go to school the day before and spend the day going every single line…i just dont think this exam is worth THAT much effort hahah

There really is no way to study. I mean, I did read through the entire syllabus over the last few weeks and slightly review grammar and vocab, and also practiced, but mostly I’m relying on my effort throughout the year and my writing skills.

I’m done. There’s no way to avoid my fate.

Yeah, best of luck to everyone. Like Aeneas, we all have our fates determined. So, no point in worrying right? :)

I’m pretty disappointed in myself for not having studied harder - I bought the prep book a while ago and said I was going to systematically study, but here I am, and I know so little!
Oh well.
Don’t get credit anyway.
If I can get anything better than a 1, I will have the best score at my school in the last 4 years. :stuck_out_tongue:
Good luck to all!

good luck everyone! :)

i honestly don’t think it was that bad! anybody else done yet?

haha I thought that test was a bucket of fun. for me it wasn’t that bad at all, I was able to answer all the free response to my best ability, and the sight passages weren’t terrible.

however, I am definitely ready to never look at another line of the aeneid for a very long time.

Yeah, it definitely could have been worse. Nothing completely surprised me. I hope everyone did well.

I didn’t want anything from 1,2,end of 4…what did i get passage from 1,end of 4, and 2 in that order…cant wait to see how bad i failed :/
