*****Official AP Latin Virgil Thread*****

So who's ready for Friday's test?

any study plans or guesses for passages?

this will be my LAST AP ever :)

hey i'm taking the Vergil test too!

my latin teacher thinks they might quiz on Mercury in Book IV

i have a hunch it'll be something from the Sibyll in Book VI- regarding the golden bough or maybe the prophecy of Anchises or something. they've recently only tested two things out of book VI- the twin gates of sleep at the end and Aeneas's request to see his father "I carried him on these shoulders from the middle enemies..."

i dunno. i sure as hell have got a lot of reviewing to do though!

same here... I 'm not gonna review all my liens -- just the ones that are guesses for the test.

i'll sparknotes the rest of the book to answer those essays

ooh be careful with sparknotes on the essays: often they ask for specifics to see who read the s'notes and who read the actual text.

case in point- they might ask about Allecto's persuasion of Turnus in book 7, where Sparknotes might just say that she inflamed him, the AP graders are looking for that she turned into an old woman, tried to persuade him, it didn't work, she became all hideous and stuck a torch in his chest!!!

oh vergil, you brilliant brilliant poet...

im aiming low ... 3 :)

Good luck with Vergil! I thought I was screwed last year but ended up getting a 4 somehow, so it's not that bad.

lit was tough for me last year -- i got a 3

vergil doesnt seem too bad cuz its just 1 story unlike all those poems i couldnt follow along last year...

after this ap exam, i'll go cuckoo because i'll never see another ap test in my life again.

7 ap tests comprise almost 1 day of my life gone down the tube.

im scared cuz im down to my last 4 ap labels.. what'll happen if i run out -_-

im done w/ all my aps!!!!!!!!!! i dont care what i get on this test because im free at last!

post test:

what a bipolar test! I was thoroughly trounced by the mc, but then the free response was like a gift from God...er...Iuppiter

wow....... it was sooooooo hard. I took 4 aps and this was by far the hardest........i really wasn't looking forward to it. I thought the mc was killer I wasn't able to finish, i left 5 blank. As compared to practice mc's this was much harder. But, the essays were a gift, as was said previously. Thank you college board. I REALLY hope i did well.

frq werent that bad which was incredible considering i didnt understand anything i was reading for mc.

i think i'll get my goal of a 3 at least.

well if we're all having probs with the multiple choice- then that means the curve will be soooo nice!!

i was scared for a moment cuz i almost ran outta ap labels ... i was down to my last 1 -_-

hah... i ran out....it's a very scary experience

My S said the MC killed him too. He's hoping for a nice curve.

even though i dont get credit, i want to get a 3 for my awesome latin teacher

i got pwned. =(

how much did u guys prep?

i only prepped the night before... by reading cliffnotes and studying memorable lines

i really didn't prep as much as I should have...I was too busy with other stuff to start reviewing lines in details two weeks before, as I should have done.

however, my teacher IS an excellent teacher, and she makes the Latin quite clear, almost to the point of memorization. which is a bad thing.

i went over books 6 10 12 and 2 the first half of the week (and 12 again right before the test, because my Latin teacher guessed (correctly!) that 12 would be on it) and then I thought to myself "i'll go over 1 and 4 the night before the exam!" forgetting that 1 and 4 comprised 1000 lines!!! hence to say, I went through it very very quickly. thank god our literal translations were 2 and 12, and that the stuff from 1 and 4 was either MC or essays or really really memorable (case in point- the "O Socii" passage- one of my favorites)

then in physics that morning (in which we're watching Killler Klowns from OUter Space since the AP is done) I just reviewed the Sparknotes of the Stuff that we didn't read in trans.

fun stuff

edit: and the minute I saw Laocoon on the FR, i started laughing because I am a Laocoon master!!!! bring on those twin snakes from Tenedos!!!

its been 48 hrs, so we can talk about FR, right?
