Official AP Psychology thread 2012

@hatboy
Yeah, in the 1999 one, it seems that question 41 and 99 were both removed.
I feel like petitioning Stroop would be difficult (it’s an extremely common optical illusion/test or whatever) but Dichotic/Cocktail Effect were both very close.

why the cocktail effect? i put that and we learned it in class… hopefully its right

I think it’s whorf. I had put Chomsky, but changed answer to whorf.

It is obviously not Dichotic. Dichotic is in Sensory Memory and lasts a few seconds.

hey guys think about it as this: this exam was definitely harder than released ones, so better curve? Think positively!

I think it’s Chomsky:

“Universal grammar is a theory in linguistics, usually credited to Noam Chomsky, that the ability to learn grammar is hard-wired into the brain.”

The question said that the deaf children knew grammar.

whorf- language determines the way we think
chomsky- innate language

which is correct b.c i put chomsky

The problem here is I have no idea what to expect in terms of grading for the FRQs. If the grading rubric specifically needs the “location” to get the point, then I think we are all !@#$%ed.

For the FRQs, I started on the second page by accident and completely skipped the first page. I indicated to turn the page, but will this affect my score?

Woman lost sense/ touch of right hand…did she suffer her parietal lobe???

I’m fairly certain that this was a harder test than the rest of the exams that that our class has studied, Barron’s did not include a few topics on the MC and the FRQ. My professional opinion, the curve should be slightly higher.

What is ethnocentrism? If I wrote about Anabelle joining a chinese club to express her feelings etc. Would that be right?

Yes. Parietal lobe is what I put.

why would it, Haphazard? Unless your grader is stupid or you put your note somewhere randomly on the paper or in tiny font…

Ethnocentrism is feeling that your ethnic group is superior to other ethnic groups.

@hatboy
Yep, if part of the grading is getting the location, I’m %#@!ed too, I think. :confused:
I tried my best to implement it but it was just such a weird thesis.
My thesis ended up sounding like “Location affects stuff” lol.

Ethnocentrism, I think is believing that one’s ethnicity is superior to another’s. (don’t quote me on that.)

jetfan41, I don’t think that would be right.

Ethnocentrism-is when someone thinks their culture is better someone else’s. Assuming Annabelle is American or white European, she won’t join a chinese club in that matter.

Yes, it’s Parietal.

“Sensory loss: The parietal lobe harbors the sensory cortex, which let us feel sensations such as touch, temperature and vibratory sense.”
^From a website on strokes, which is what the woman in the question had.

Now the question is… What do you think you’ll be getting?
