A thread to discuss all things Psychology for the 2013 AP exams. Are you all self-studying or taking the class? I’m taking the class but out of pure interest for the subject I’ve already read the entire Barrons’ book (did it when I was sick, all in one day). Hopefully that helps me out in the class.

I’m self-studying. I’ll probably start after December when college apps are done since I’m going to be a senior.

I’m taking the class…Not only is the subject of interest to me, but I need the weighted grade.
I’m also taking AP Environmental, and both tests are on the same day. Gladly, they’re the two easiest tests.

Self studying. I like @Darthpwner’s plan. I’m also a senior and I’ve been bombarded with homework/college apps. Probs won’t slow down until Christmas (thank god!)

@risubu if your school offers it, try to get into contact with the AP Psych teacher so he/she can give you materials to study for and also check out a textbook from your school library.

I’m taking the class, not only because, well, GPA boost!, but also because I heard the teacher was awesome (she is, by the way). Although the material is interesting and I could have self-studied, AP Psychology is one of the most worthwhile classes to take at my school. Plus, my school is honestly not big on self-studying.

@Darthpwner My school doesn’t offer APs. I’m probably the only kid sad about it too. XD

I took the exam last year and I would suggest getting a study book such as the Princeton Review and practicing multiple choice and free response questions. I didn’t learn much out of the class, so the study book was a lot of help.

I’m taking the class. Awesome subject and awesome teacher! The notes take forever, though.

The class itself so far has basically been watered down AP Biology (and scientific method etc)/AP Statistics and finally I got to “new” stuff which still lacks the cream. As it has been said before, it doesn’t feel like a real AP class, the essays are just knowing vocabulary words and writing BS and still getting the points even if you don’t know what the word is because sometimes the teacher doesn’t catch the incorrect definition :P

It’s a popular AP class and for many it is their first, but for me, it is one of my last but the teacher treats us like it is a first (partners/books during some quizzes and tests, over 100 pts in extra credit assignments by now and chapter tests are worth 100 pts…) Free GPA boost, as for the AP test, it depends on the end of the year because I only need one more social science to complete some GE at college and I can choose from comparative gov’t or Econ as well.
