***OFFICIAL AP Statistics Thread 2014-2015***

@MrWiggles That makes sense, darn. I just divided by n… atleast I still got d right-ish.

@bjgiants6 I thought the FRQ was very reasonable. Sometimes question 6 can be more difficult, but this year’s was mainly critical thinking and using logic to figure it out with basic statistic concepts. The other questions were fair in my opinion. Is there any particular FRQ question that you thought was unfair?

I think I have seen matched pairs be categorized as blocking before, because blocking is separating individuals based on something similar, so similar GPA belongs in a block

@MrWiggles What did you do for b and d on the probability frq, the two questions that talked about expected

ok

Just for clarification, it was Grade AND gpa right?

@KenDey I think that was the FRQ i messed up on. apparently since the events are disjoint the expected value changes when you take out 0. All I did was look at the formula E(X) = sum(np). I dont remember particularly b and d

@MrWiggles ah ok, I did the same thing. I just did sum(np), so for the last part, I said not having 0 in there makes no difference… oh well

@KenDey I put the same thing as you. I’m not sure what the answer is or how you would go about doing that problem. Does anyone know?

@KenDey @MrWiggles I didn’t put anything about neutrality exclusive, I just calculated the new P I think. Will that work?

@tina23 The new P is the same as the old one, because 0(.15) = 0, so removing it won’t change the result. But I think you have to do something else with the 0

Do the probabilities of 1,2,3 increase as we remove the 0? because the sum of the probabilities is always 1, when we get rid of the 0, the 0.15 will be distributed to the other cases?

Yeah, I got wrecked by the Free response about expected values

I feel like there were quite a few “tricky” questions in free response and multiple choice, or maybe it’s just “critical” critical thinking

@MrWiggles um I don’t think so. After you removed 0, you need to calculate a new form of probabilities cuz the old situation no longer works in this one (if you just simple remove 0, the other columns don’t add up to 1).
So after you revise the probability chart (I think you just divide everything by 0.85) you calculate the NEW expected value.
Idk if that makes sense, neither am I 100% positive about it.

@tina23 That makes sense. thanks

@InstantEco i put grade AND gpa

For the free response with 2 proportions…
How much would I be deducted if I did a single proportion z test using the placebo as the null hypothesis?
Dumb, I know, but I think I completed all the steps correctly.

do mods care that we’re discussing MC lol

When does the multiple choice section get released? I heard it would be released in two days or so… is this true?
