***OFFICIAL AP US History Thread 2013-2014***

@Metaphorical‌ hm 20 hours isn’t too bad for 10 days. Have you used GetA5? If so, what do you think of it?

@rllyrlyodd‌ @heldenleben‌ @Metaphorical‌ my plan is to finish AMSCO…then move onto to Crash Course…then repeat…if at all possible. I have the AP Spanish test this Tuesday and AP Lang test this Friday cry

@Metaphorical‌ Is GetA5 any good? I just enrolled. Maybe after AMSCO and CC, I’ll indulge myself in that.

@nkimmy @heldenleben yeah, i think it’s best to stick with amsco and you’ll be fine. that’s what most people tell me anyways…also watch john green’s crash course videos. wicked helpful and they’re very engaging too so they’re easy to watch (span from about 14-20 mins).
@Metaphorical not sure if i’ll even have enough time to get ahold of a copy, i may check my school’s library just in case but i’m definitely sticking with amsco.

While I do like amsco I think GetA5 is good also. I used it as my main self study resource for AP World last year and it helped me get a 5.

@heldenleben‌ @nkimmy‌
Ok. GetA5 is very good in my opinion, it is detailed and gives good trending statements about periods. However, 20 hours is the minimum it will take.
I find myself aving to pause and go back because I felt it was going to quickly.
Meaning in 1 hour, I can only finish about 3-4 10 minute videos.
My final is this week and I am feeling so far behind because of the same reason as I stated. GETA5 vides move quickly, so it takes longer to watch them.
It’s efinitely a NO to cramming because there’s too much.
I am stopping GetA5 and moving on to Crash Course/ Amsco.

Quick Question: Say you have done average in APUSH all year, and all you do to review is watch the full 10 hours of John Green’s Crash Course (<a href=“The Black Legend, Native Americans, and Spaniards: Crash Course US History #1 - YouTube)…how”>The Black Legend, Native Americans, and Spaniards: Crash Course US History #1 - YouTube)…how sufficient do you think that review is?

@jamesjunkers‌
That alone is not enough.

 1. It doesn’t cover a great amount of information you should have covered in class to this point.
 2. That doesn’t help you with writing DBQs or Free Responses

What you should do at this point (1 week before the test).

 1. Try to take a practice APUSH test ( preferably a REAL past test)
 2. Go over your key terms, know the periodization of those terms.
 3. Take quizzes.

How does 10 hours of review cover a year’s worth of material?

Does anyone know where one could find a real past APUSH test? I only know of the dbq’s and frq’s but yeah.

@rllyrlyodd‌ they’ve last released the 2006 mc <a href=“Moon Valley High School / Homepage”>http://moonvalley.guhsdaz.org/UserFiles/Servers/Server_758978/File/2006%20AP%20US%20History%20Exam.pdf</a></p>

answers: http://fmhs.files.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/2009/05/may_2006_answers.pdf</a></p>

@heldenleben thank you! i’ve been trying to find a more recent mc and couldnt (clearly i didn’t search hard enough).

HURRY POST RANDOM APUSH FACTS

The Proclamation of 1963 was issued by King George III to command settlers not to encroach on Indian land after victory in the Seven Year’s War.

Have your teachers made any predictions on what they think the dbq will be this year? Mine thinks that it’s going to be carter.

@Sohalekum‌ Hopefully not.
@BassGuitar‌ Remember where they couldn’t encroach on!
Details are important.

@BassGuitar‌ 1963? Damn. I didn’t know that King George III was alive then.

I’m studying by just watching Crash Course and then, I’m just reading multiple chapters in american history. Hopefully. I’ll get that 5.

No… but in 1963 Kennedy was assassinated, and MLK gave his I Have a Dream speech.

…I’ll stop now

How much outside information would be viable for a 7-8 on the FRQ/DBQ’s? I just want to make sure I don’t have a really empty essay for the test. :)

Does anyone have an Idea how the curve usually is? I checked AP Pass and it seems almost too lenient, aka 80% MC and 5s on all essays. Anyone have links to past curves?

hey guys is it true that there will not be a dbq or frq on anything after 1980? that’s what my amsco says but its from 2010 so is it still true now?

dat feel when haven’t started studying yet
