Official Ap Us History Thread! (: 5/9/08

hey! who's taking it :)

I am!
I'm pretty worried but I actually am gonna study sometime.

I think APUSH is the most popular exam...

but anyway, I'm taking it. I just took the SAT II USH on saturday (and aced it). So I'm feeling pretty confident about the APUSH exam...

good luck to everyone.

I'm taking it, but I don't know what to do now, give me some ideas to do next so I can ace this thing with flying colors.

I can't believe it's so soon...

This very friday... surreal

I....hope I don't suck :)

Pekingnese, I'm was born in Beijing and I'm in the class of '09, that's pretty coincidental.

I'm hoping for a 4 and 6 credit hours. I've been reading the Princeton Review book but tonight I'm gonna have to cram for calculus and pray for a 3!

I am taking it! Scared though!

I hope to get a 4 or 5. On all the practice tests I've taken, I've averaged around missing 15ish so thats like 80% right... All I have to do good on is the DBQs and essays, which really isn't that big of a deal..

yay! its in 2 days! hooray!

i'm screwed. gonna study tomorrow night. but i doubt that i'll get anything done so maybe i'll just settle for a 4...

Im taking it, pretty scared. I took 2 practice tests one in my review book, and one online on sparknotes and they both said i would get a 5 o_0 but idk how accurate they are, so im not getting too excited.

I'm excited! I looooove history!

you'llsee: did you already receive your score on the SAT II USH exam (or are you just that good at history?)

lol i was going to study for it but i decided against it. i'm not to worried though ive done well on social studies aps in the past (5s in world, euro, and geo)

im not worried since everyone from my school got a 5 for the past few years

I'm taking it am I'm screwed. I can barely get above a 60% on practice tests...

I took it last year, got a 5. I still remember one tip my teacher told us before the APs and it pretty much saved my ass.

If you get an essay question that you don't know about, and you freeze up, chances are you DO know about it. Find out what decade the essay is about (It might say it on the question), and try to think of everything that happened in that decade. You'll probably be able to think of something that can be related to the essay. If you use some common sense and logic, you can triangulate using the information you do know to figure out the things you don't. That doesn't always work, but if you're completely stuck, that can help.

So you need to know the general trends for the decades/centuries. Try to have a reasonably good order of the presidents and what years they were in the White House.
The AP isn't going to ask you something completely obscure and esoteric. You probably know the answer (If you've been doing most of the work), you just need to rack your brains and get it onto the paper.
For what it's worth, I was also a nervous wreck before the test. The day before, I nearly shat myself in fear. In the practices, I had trouble outlining the essays. But it really wasn't that bad and on test day, the essays were pretty easy. Good luck!

How many questions can you get wrong on the multiple choice and how many points on teh essays to still get a 5?

i think the magic safe number is 50/80 (without subtracting 1/4*number u got wrong)
