**OFFICIAL April 2014 ACT (US ONLY)**

Can someone explain how to get 10 possibilities on the notebook question without listing each way? Is there some sort of formula that gives you 10? If not, it’s hard for me to believe that the test would have a question where to solve it you had to write out each possibility. What happens if it was 10 books, the person chose 10, and the order did not matter? No one would have every wrote it all out…

@korsan I agree with you. I think it was a stupid question. I still think it’s 10 (and I put 27).

Can anyone predict the curves? english: 75 math: 57 (ouch i got a 35 last time too) reading:40 science:40 so far

I’m still bitter about math. Gahh.

@Mlolo98 ya like I wish I put 10, but it just doesn’t make sense. I put 27 also because of 3x3x3. Hopefully -1 is still 36 tho :-/

I think english it gonna be down one for each wrong. I think math will be one wrong at a 36, 2 or 3 wrong 35, and so on. I think reading will be one wrong, one scaled score down (e.g. 1 wrong, 35). I think science will be 38-40 is a 36, 37 is a 35, 36 is a 34 and so on. What do you guys think?

@korsan yeah same :frowning: I’m so pissed hahahahahah oh well

@Mlolo98 I’m hoping for that generous math and science curve. English was pretty easy I felt, and reading was normal. I’m just hoping reading is a little generous.

@korsan I think the science was pretty tough, so I think the curve will be plenty. Reading will be a decent curve. I don’t think math and english will have much of a curve, though.

@korsan what’d you put for the roman numeral questions?
The first was like this: I. Sun II. Rain III. N amino (something like that)

the second was like I. Juvenile II. mating adults III. non mating adults

@korsan, you do sadly need to write it out but it took me only around 15 sec. If you write 3 rows of
A
B
C
and count out only the possibility of A, it would give you 9possible combinations and then you just multiply it by 3 to get 27.

@Mlolo98 the second was I, II, and III Because the graph given contained all three of the types. I believe the first was just I and II but I’m not sure

okay yay!

@Huynhsanford‌ the answer was 10.

On the Science part, does anyone remember why on one of the experiments, the turtles put into the freshwater were tagged?

@korsan @mlolo98 The question was supposed to be counted out. The way to do this mathematically would be using the ball and urn formula where n=3 k=3 and you would get c(5,3) which would equal 10. But that is a whole different matter (and much too difficult for such a simple problem).

@hellagucci thank you very much. I just couldn’t imagine a right answer without an easier way of doing it. Also could you possibly explain this a little more, I’m interested

You guys. What’d you put for the Roman numeral questions

@Mlolo98‌ I’m trying to remember both questions. I think I put I,II,III and I,II. But I’m not sure.

I thought the second one was just juveniles? THey only collected the untagged offspring

yeah I have no idea about the roman numeral question. I completely guessed on it
