New Deal: Remember the three Rs! Recovery, Relief and Reform.

Anyone know the names of some authors I should memorize?

^ I have the same question. I can’t remember all those random authors.

jacob riis - how the other half lives

alfred mahan thayer - influence of sea power upon history

Helen hunt jackson - Century of dishonor

McGuffey - Mcguffey readers

Harriet Beecher Stowe -Uncle Tom’s Cabin

and the femine mystique: Betty Friedman.

The Jungle- Upton Sinclair.

Don’t overlook the less important topics; last year there was an FRQ on unique Native American tribes and their interactions with each other and the different empires (France, Spain, England) during the colonial period.

the only thing I know is the Iroquois confederacy…during the colonial period

Does anyone know wat the DBQ and FRQs may be about?
(Rough estimates of course!)

What should be the strategy when it comes to skipping questions on the mc test? How many answers should I for sure eliminate before I take a shot at it? How many questions is a normal amount to skip for the mc section?

I honestly can’t even remember what I wrote, but I was so caught off-guard, and don’t suspect I did well. To be honest, I think I just started listing Native American tribes.

My grade turned out to be a 5, but the curve must have been insane on that one question
alone to the point that it was completely nullified.

The essays can be on virtually anything.

I have a question on the DBQs. When I cite from any document, do I use quotation marks and do i write (Document A) at the end??

^ No. At the end you just put (Doc.A). at the end.Look at examples of a written DBQ. That might help.

Thanks.
Another question… how hard is it to get like a 6 in DBQs and 5 in essays?

wait, so I’m kind of confused - how much of a penalty is there for wrong answers?

I’m sick.

I’m not sure if I should go tomorrow.

GAH this sucks

+1 for correct
-1/4 for wrong

any predictions about the DBQ?

Nothing past WWII,…maybe Progressives that would be so nice (I’m thinking something late 19th century to mid twentieth)

My class finished AMSCO before Spring Break (first week of April) and have been reviewing since. We’ve gotten about 15-20 practice tests and about two pages of possible/probable FRQ/DBQ topics (because our teacher is psychic and has been teaching so long that he always has a general idea of what the topics will be), not to mention four-hour long study groups with our teacher each night for about two weeks at a local restaurant. Last year our teacher’s pass rate was 78/79 kids.

I’m still a little worried about getting a 5, but I know I’ve got a 3, maybe 4, in the bank.

QUICK QUESTION:

is it okay to take a MIDDLE STANCE? as in, i agree with both sides of the argument?

i.e. the FRQ is something like, “Jacksonian government was democratic.” assess validity. and my thesis was like, it was democratic yet there were instances of demagogic overpower.

is that okay?
