Just got accepted on ED1 terms. If I can pay for it, I’m going. 2016 Bates Baseball!

@maury757:congrats

any more acceptence guys? Post here ASAP

I was deferred too, you’re not alone! Oh well. Some things are just not meant to be.

If anyone’s curious, I had a GPA of 3.73 at a great (public) high school and SAT scores of 640 in Reading, 660 in Math, and 720 in Writing. I also had solid extra-curriculars, essays, and (well, theoretically) recommendations in addition to a great interview.

Don’t despair MFW2012,you have great stats and might get in in reg. decision, if you still want it.

Well MFW,my gpa is 4 unweighted…good essays n recos…superb alumni interview, opted test optional admission[though scores were 620cr, 800math,690wr), good ECAs at national level n am Opportunity student funded by U.S Department of State as one of the top 16 Nepalese([The Commission for Educational Exchange Between the United States and Nepal](http://www.usefnepal.org/opportunity)). I am from Nepal.

@amshik1 - Hi Amshik, Since you are from Nepal, how did you have alumni interview? Face to face, telephonic or over skype?? Thanks!

It was face to face.

fwd.—
u have good spots .
while actually admission staff do not pay great attention on your (The Commission for Educational Exchange Between the United States and Nepal). , as the program sounds good- but not very competitive to get in.

bates is looking for someone who is well rounded and shows the great care for others.

i wish you very best

bates student----end of quote

Best wishes! I applied ED 2!!

Hi Emily Bee,
I’m new to this forum and not exactly sure how to private message someone!
My daughter is applying to Bates RD. She’s very interested, though we were not able to visit. She called the school and left a message with admissions to request an interview, but never heard back. She is going to call again. Do you have any tips for getting an interview? She knows they are highly recommended. We are in CA.
My daughter has 2140 SAT’s, 3.9 unweighted GPA (5 AP’s) and (I think) good EC’s, though I know that is subjective. I hope she has a good chance, as Bates seems like a very good match.
Best,
Karen

I am an RD candidate. When are the decisions coming out?

According to the Bates website, the notification date is April 1st.

Yes but 1st April is a Sunday so we should get them by 30th March. In the past they have been out on 26th March mostly.

“funded by U.S Department of State as one of the top 16 Nepalese(The Commission for Educational Exchange Between the United States and Nepal)”

The “top 16 students thing” is so so untrue. It is for those who can’t afford the cost of applying to a college in US.

amshik1, It would’ve been so great if you didn’t boast or over-estimate something you have done or achieved. I can see, where you are going in the near future.

They waitlisted me…UGGGH BATES!!!

@bobbob924 - Hey, don’t worry! I am sure you are going to end up somewhere great. Are you a domestic applicant?

@bobbob924- did you get a letter in the mail. or did they email you?

For ED they came by ‘snail mail’ (USPS). I was deferred, anxiously awaiting my second letter.

hey just wanted to let you know, I just received my mail 10 mins back…got accepted!!
:D

Accepted to Bates
Waitlisted at Colby
Rejected by Bowdoin
