Early Decision I for class of 2018

Does anyone know when prospective students will receive letters for EDI. Admissions link says December 20th, any chance they will hear before December 20?

History may not be the best guide, but last year letters were mailed Dec. 18. Although New England applicants received them within a day or two, some on the west coast didn’t get their news until after the 20th.

We’re on the East Coast and if I remember correctly my son’s arrived on the 21st.

We’re in New England and my son’s arrived on the 20th.

Does Bates post decisions online?

Last year at any rate it was snail mail - so not online.

Do they mail on the 20th or before?

Last year they mailed on the 18th I believe. Last year, they posted on their twitter feed and on their facebook page. Good luck to you!

How are they posting on twitter & Facebook the EDI decisions? I’m not sure I understand how that would work. Thank you for explaining this to me.

Sorry to be unclear - they posted when letters were sent (both on FB and Twitter) so you knew yours was on its way.

Last year’s mailing on Dec 18 was unusually late (possibly because of the 35% increase in ED apps last year). In prior years it had been earlier: Dec. 14, 2011 and Dec. 10, 2010.

Thanks for these details! I hope it is earlier this year too!

Thank you! Good luck to the student applicants for EDI - class of 2018!

Good news to all you who have applied ED1. Bates admissions posted on Twitter that your decisions will be received by snail mail by Dec. 20.

Do you think that means I will get it before the 20th if live on the east coast?

Based solely on the fact the announcement was made a full 10 days ahead of their promised “received by” date, I am guessing it means most everyone will get it before the 20th. If anyone talks to admissions and gets actual mailing details or receives a decision by mail, please post!

Last year, our son received his decision exactly on the 20th. We’re in New England - one state over - so I kind of expected it to be at least a day early but nooooooooooooo

Niceday- I like your thinking! I too agree if anyone talks to some at bates and gets more details that they should post it here.

I thought about it some more and if everyone is meant to get it by the 20th and since mail takes longer to get to the west coast then us on the east coast should deff hear before the 20th.

Niceday, the announcement last year was made in about that timeframe as well and most (including those of us in New England and on the east coast) received their letters on the 20th. I’m curious - are you an adcon? You seem to know a lot! Swimmer, many of our kids received notification on the 20th but for some it was later than that. It was agonizing!

The letter reached our house in MA on the 21st last years. I know some years the letters have arrived before the 20th, but if you haven’t received a letter by the 20th don’t read anything into it.
