You’ll be happy to know that I no longer see any stacks in the Admission office, they are in the conference room, haha. There still are some pending, but for the most part, they are decided…and just waiting to be put into the computer.

The Appeals Committee reads them in the order they were received…a majority of people find out now and others later. Some people have been denied even after the SIR June 1st deadline, it’s all a matter of how quickly they can get your particular decision up.

No worries, here to help for a little bit more!

Thank you so much sakurax I greatly appreciate it, it puts me a little at ease that I at least made the first cut and my appeal is possibly in the conference room. =) Thank you again for being patient and responsive to my questions. Thank you!

^
Hahaha. I get that phone call all the time. “Did I make the first cut?” There are no cuts. It’s either you get in or not. Yes, there are numbers, “gap fillers”, and the Appeals Committee goes in with that knowledge and maybe that’s why the appeal success rate is ~2%.

Don’t worry, I’m waiting too. Still under review, you’re not alone! Wow, it seems like you’ve been through a rough few years and it seems that you have a really good appeal. I have a personal appeal as well: living on my own due to abuse at home, working full-time, etc. I don’t know why, but this time around I’m really zen about the whole situation because if I don’t get accepted, I’ll still be happy and not let it depress me like it has in the past. Good luck!

@sakurax

Thank you for giving us the inside information! Do you happen to know if they release decisions one time a day or throughout the day? Also, would they, for some reason, release decisions on the weekend? Thank you!

I’m not quite sure to the specific time appeals decisions are put up for the applicant to see because that’s not even Admissions, it’s the IT department. They also put up the decisions on April 30th in general…
Decisions are not posted on weekends as no one is working.

Glad to help.

So I guess that means all of us still “under review” will not hear anything until June 1 (at the earliest :-/), since Monday is Memorial Day and I doubt any admissions/IT people are working.

Let’s all just try and enjoy our weekend! Personally, I have ZERO hope of my appeal going through. I think I will pass out if it actually does.

@sakurax

Do you know if IT is entering any acceptances (has the comittee even made any acceptances yet?) or do they just start with the denials?

^
Of course there have been acceptances. Like I said, it all depends in the order they were received. I’m sure not everyone who appealed to Cal is posting on CC, haha. There’s no specific order, denials, acceptances, since a majority of them are denials.

pommesfrites12-Thank you good luck to you too!!! I wish I was zen about all this I was devastated the first time I was denied but I figured it was kinda meant to be bc I was still preggo when I found out their decision so I looked at it, okay maybe it was a good thing I didn’t get accepted gives me time to bond with my baby.

BUT I ended up still going to ccc 1 month after I gave birth and had a hard time but I was able to still manage (I didn’t want to put off school for the second time, granted totally different situation but I thought I was superwoman and I could manage =P ) so yah anyways its always very hard when life steps in and takes you off track from your goals but the point is to keep going and eventually you will find your way back.

Well good luck to all that are still under review and please if you could post any updates as soon as you hear anything, I know we all would greatly appreciate it!

I hope we can all enjoy this Memorial weekend even though in the back of our minds we will be a total anxious mess (at least I will be) And thank you again for all the help, info and updates everyone!!!

sakurax-this may be a dumb question and I apologize but I wasn’t sure what you meant by,

“Yes, there are numbers, “gap fillers,” and the Appeals Committee goes in with that knowledge…”

Could you please explain what you meant? Thank you!

^
I meant it as…there’s a specific number of “spots” that could be filled by appealing students. They know those numbers before they start their reviewing, but again–the appealing process is very difficult and they usually don’t reverse decisions.

Thank you so much sakurax I appreciate the clarification.

As of 11:17am still no update is anyone else out there still waiting or know if anybody has gotten accepted from an appeal? So far I have only heard denials. =/ sigh still waiting

Still nothing. When did you send yours in?

Nothing either. I sent mine the Thursday before it was due. Where are you going to SIR if you don’t hear back from Berkeley?

Same with me, the Thursday before.

UCSD

UCSD for me as well.

Thanks celesbian and pommesfrites12 for the updates. I sent mine on Saturday the 15th

Thanks ucbwannabe too…this is such torture ahahaha no but really it sure feels like it. I want to call but I don’t want to p*** anyone off.
Have any of you heard of any acceptances yet from appeal for this year?
