OFFICIAL Brown 2009 Transfers Thread

i couldn’t find any threads, so started a new one. Discuss!

let's start with basic introductory stats? i'm currently a sophomore at a public university in california

Sophomore, private in massachusetts. Eagerly awaiting my decision, that's for sure.

did you apply last year? i faintly recall your screenname.

Nah. This is my first time. I was considering applying last year, but I didn't feel I had much to offer as a freshman. I feel like I have a much better chance this year, though that doesn't mean much considering it's kind of a crapshoot and the competition are some of the brightest students in college.

Sophomore at a public university in Michigan. I applied and was waitlisted (ultimately rejected) last year

Applied close to the deadline. I am currently a sophomore at a community college in Michigan.

yeah. i do turn in the final part of all my apps right at the deadline. like the day of. i always wondered if that affects my admissions chances, like if they look at my app and go "oh...he must be a procrastinator" and put me in a separate pile...

Woh ok, I just realized I put Sophomore when I intended to say Freshman. And cali, I sure hope there's no such pile....

Applying for sophomore status from UCR. I accidentally turned in some of the financial aid information late..hopefully that doesn't get me instantly rejected haha.

btw i love reading the fine print on things, and brown's transfer admissions in NEED AWARE. it's not need blind because they don't have sufficient funds allocated for transfer, so unlike most other universities, brown takes your financial situation into account when making a decision on your app. not to freak anyone out, but just thought you should know...

Are rest of all IVY's except Brown need blind in admission?
I am too curious too know because I am applying Columbia and U Penn as transfer for Fall 2010.

i'm pretty sure all the other ivies are need blind for transfer. brown is need blind for freshmen, just not for transfers...

Can/should I send Brown updated grades? Winter quarter grades just got released for my school

i think you can. i asked stanford last year if i could send updated transcripts and they said i could. you should definitely ask, and then send them, it can only help if you did well last quarter!

i still haven't recieved any email to check my status! Anyone in same boat?

I haven't gotten an email. It says they'll be giving them out in April so I can't imagine too many people having them yet..

Straight A+'s, definitely seems like it should help my app haha

yay! congrats!

Thanks! It was some stroke of a miracle to be honest, haha.
