OFFICIAL Brown Class of 2013 Thread

^ Oh yeah, you went there with... like... those other RHHS people!! (I'm that person you met the other day in that chat room -- I go to AHS -- in case you don't remember and think I'm creepy.) OMG the decibel limits ahahaha. Suchhh ridiculousness!! I looveeddd that lab. <3

^^ LOL. The people in that pic look so lovably nerdy.

Anyways, well, I think Brown's campus is beautiful but of course I'm biased. Also, I just visited Princeton last week (which I also really like, don't get me wrong, but Brown is my first love) and my overall impression was that the buildings were frickin' amazingly pretty and intricately designed, but the campus as a whole wasn't, like, "THE PRETTIEST EVER" (as it's often rated.) In MY opinion, the prettiest campus (out of the like five schools I've visited...) is Johns Hopkins University, another one of my top picks, which doesn't have awesome buildings like Princeton but is just full of green grass, brick, and white. Lol. For some sort of illustration, here are two pics I took surreptitiously (didn't wanna seem touristy lmao) during my tour that don't quite do it justice: [one] & two

But omg seeee all the green and red and white? Lol there's no better way to describe it. (And I can totally relate to what you say about Berkeley... everyone's concerned about the safety of students since JHU is in the middle of Baltimore.)

OHH and here's one of the quad that I lived on at Brown (my hand got in the way... grrr): one

SO YEAH. I also have Princeton pics but I'm too lazy to find 'em lol and I'm sure you could find pics on Google anyways... come to think of it, I guess my posting pics isn't too helpful, then... but SHHH. ;]

ANYWAYS, I always hear that Stanford has a beautiful campus and I THINK I've heard similar things about Berkeley but I'm not sure. Haha it's funny that you've heard about pretty campuses over here, 'cause everyone here is like "omg California is so beautiful" and I think that translates to its schools' campuses being really nice, too. I've never been to the west coast (or even off of the east!) soooo I have no idea, but I definitely think of it as sunny and pretty and stuff. XD

WOWWW that was a long-winded reply lol.

I read about that tetris game. It must've been awesome :P
And I'm applying to Berkeley too - instate.

Not to threadhog or anything but I'm worried. From Brown's application summary, they recieved everything on time except for the commonapp, teacher evals, ssr, and transcript (understandably, the last 3 thins are sent by mail).
However, I submitted my commonapp on November 31 (according to CommonApp's website). that was the "Downloaded" date. However, Brown's admission check says they recieved it on November 5th. Is this going to disqualify me from ED consideration?

I'm no expert but I think it'll be fine. Their system was probably just clogged up 'cause of the influx of apps on November 1st.

Actually, hold on, I'm gonna upload some better pics of the Brown campus, since that cell phone one is complete crap.

On-campus (I didn't take a lot of good ones, Idk why, but believe me that there were lots of superpretty buildings and it was really nice):
[one]
[two]
[three]
[four]
[five]
(I apologize for my friends being in all of these, haha. Actually, the reason there aren't a lot of good pics is probably 'cause I just got them off of facebook, and the only ones I uploaded to facebook are the ones with friends in them. XD)

Downtown Providence:
[one]
[two]
[three]
[four]

Lol. So yeah. I loveee the campus and Providence is actually really cool!!

Thanks. those are tight pics - I'm getting excited just looking at them

XD SAMEEE. Let's get accepted pl0x!!!

KLOL BRA-ON-HEAD PHOTO (look at photos...i'm not going crazy, oh no...)

this thread is starting to get interesting. But yeah Stanford! I went there for a summer leadership camp conference thingy two summer ago and...it is confusing @_@ it'a great campus come to think of it and the buildings are really pretty. Except even after dorming and staying a week there, only my group leader knew where the cafeteria/meetingrooms/classrooms were -- I don't know anybody who knew how to navigate from one point to another safely...

(point is proven when my group placed last in a conference scavenger hunt. FAIL lol!)

Are any of you guys shooting for Brown PLME?

Friend is, I'm not. PLME is really tough to get into - good luck to those applicants!

^^ Yeah, my boyfriend is, but I'm not. Good luck!!

^ AHH I forget what that arch was called but it was the Wriston Quad so yeaaah. I was in Sears House. :D

waiiit Poseur, 1 i do remember you, i just forgot what your CC name was, and 2, was the first picture you posted of brown like of the wayland arch/buxton????

cause thats where i lived <33333 :]:]:]

yesss wriston quad <333 i couldn't remember what it was called cause i spent all my time in keeney, were you a one weeker then?

Naw, two weeks.

I loved Wriston Quad fsdjflkjdf!

ohhh my b

but i now i miss brown sooooo much :X

Well you'll be seeing it next year like when you GO THERE! :] <3

mmmmmm hopefully!!!!!

knock on wooooood!!!!

I'm applying RD too!
I just finished my supplement and I'm off to bed, but I'm so excited to be applying. I can't bring myself to apply binding decision anywhere, as I'm not entirely sure which school is perfect for me yet and would like to make a second trip in april to admitted students' weekends to help decide, but Brown definitely made my short list after visiting.

It wasn't even just the campus, which I personally don't consider as "beautiful" as some other college campuses, but it was the atmosphere at Brown that made the apply. The way that everyone was soo friendly and willing to open up and the way that everyone actually really cared about what they were learning and not just learning for the sake of graduating. There was just this really chill feeling even amongst engineers and computer science majors.

Hey as just a sidebar question, does anybody know how the visiting thing works after you get accepted? I think we have to pay for our own airfare and etc, but schools like WashU pay for everything and I think it'd be really cool if other schools did that too XD

oh yeah a bunch of LAC schools pay for everything.. I want some info on that! free airfare and lodgings would be awesome! my friend did it at i either colgate or colby and washu. Anyone know what other schools do this? its a cool chance to travel too :P

It's my weighted GPA but its really screwed up, I'm 49th out of 160 in my class, but those 160 are in the top 1 or 2% of the state... so its retarded....

I'm falling in love with brown a little more at a time, I used to be obsessed with going to USC but then the Brown rep actually came to Australia and I was like hang on, this sounds like it might be cooler! WOOT!

yeah i'm shootin for PLME, those essays took forever, lol
