I’m applying - the people who get in/don’t get in seem really quite random…sometimes I think BU is a safety, and sometimes it’s like a reach. What do you think?

Hello all~ I got in early decision for Boston University a week ago and I am here to sort of give my input. @Marinozai Yeah, I am not really sure at this point because I saw last year’s regular decision thread and a lot of people got rejected from Boston University with really good stats. I won’t consider BU to be a safety because there can be a chance that you might get rejected regular decision, but I won’t consider it to be a reach either because your stats seem to be around the target area. So I say match for you.

@jungwoo810 - Congratulations on your acceptance, and thank you for your input. I was wondering, what made you apply ED to BU? What did you like about it so much? To be honest, I’m just applying to…apply.

Uhm, I applied to BU ED to the College of Arts and Science because they have a really good International Relations program. I guess it was just the program in general and also it is located in a great city, which caused me to like the university a lot. And when I started applying, past graduates told me that they look at your application very holistically, including the essay. I plan on double majoring in International Relations and Economics and I think the university is great in general. @Marinozai did you apply to CAS?

@Marinozai have you visited? (I got in ED too, for reference just so it doesnt seem like I’m jumping in from nowhere haha)

I applied by December 1st (not sure when exactly) for admission to CAS (either physics or double major in stats and English… don’t judge me) and for the Trustee Scholarship… I feel relatively confident about admission, but definitely not going to get the scholarship, haha. Well, I figured I would apply for it anyway, just in case.

4.35 W
2050 SAT (730 CR, 700 Writing, 620 math)
No class rank

Hi guys, just wondering, did you guys put anything for the Additional Information on CommonApp? I want to put my writing sample but not sure if that’s too much with all the writing or the more the better, thanks!

I put a short description of my depression, and all the ways I’m better now.

Good luck regular decision applicants! I hope that I’ll see some of you next year

I got accepted early, and even with a low gpa I still managed to get into CAS. I can tell you for sure that at BU they really look at your essays and recommendations. Here’s some info that may help you.

The admissions officer that visited my school told me that:
•It’s good to have an SAT/ACT score above the average
•It helps if you’re a US citizen. Slightly more competitive if you’re an international.
•If you have lots of APs/Honors most likely you won’t get rejected or CGSed, but you may get waitlisted who knows. For example, although I have a low gpa, I took 7 APs overall in my HS career with a very high upward trend.

Oh yeah, and if your gpa did drop for reasons outside of school, make sure to include that on the additional information section on the common app.

Finally, if you need help with your BU supplement, feel free to private message me. I can definitely help! If you need help with chances I can try to chance you. Good luck!

Quick question (hopefully I’m posting this in the right place)
Did anyone not send in their mid year grades yet.
Because I didn’t and now I’m freaking out.
I thought it was supposed to be sent when available but I wanted to make sure and then I forgot and now I’m scared I screwed up. The website doesn’t really give a clear cut answer and I plan on calling them tomorrow, but I was wondering if anyone else has an answer?

I have finals for first semester next week and then I will send my final first semester grades in after they are posted

Yeah, just send it when it’s available. Some colleges have set deadlines, but I don’t think BU does.

I just sent in my first report card around November and they accpeted it.

@bornpuremichigan My school’s first semester isn’t even done yet haha, don’t worry about it :)

Hello all! I got in ED and I came to stop by and say good luck with your applications to Boston University and I know the regular decision applicant pool is more competitive, but they care a lot about the essay and if you are well rounded. I know they have been trying to drop the admission rate each year so I think it might be in the low 30’s, but I am sure many of you will get in if you don’t their will be a college out there for you.

anyone know when will we know our decisions?

I think around the 30th of march but hopefully it is earlier. The past fews years they have come out like the 26th. I applied ED and got deferred so im hoping to get in regular decision

@redsox1215 what were your stats?
