<p>@infinitely2014 - Very few people got into NU this year with less than a 2000 - very interested to see what this year’s official acceptance rate is - when does it come out? Has it already come out? </p>

i did read (maybe from the NU thread) that the number of applicants increased and that acceptance rate dropped. it should still be in the 30 percentage range. however don’t take my word for it! haha i just know its MUCH more competitive than last year</p>
<p>I thought that maybe it dipped to ~29%. Our valedictorian got rejected this year - we had about 55 kids apply, and 9 got accepted. Last year, the Valedictorian got into BC, BU (Kilachand Honors), and wait listed at UChicago, but flat out rejected at Northeastern. Yield protection and USNWR seems to have taken a hold of the admissions office at NEU… </p>
<p>@preamble1776 it seems very likely it did. i think northeastern limits the top applicants it will accept and focus mainly on students it knows will go to northeastern. no longer will NU be a backup school. up the ranking charts it goes! no surprise there though…since it’s been becoming more popular throughout recent years.</p>
<p>@infinitely2014 - I’m still skeptical about the yield protection concept, though, because we had <em>fabulous</em> students apply to NEU this year and get admitted with huge scholarships; students who had already gotten into Brown, Harvard, and UChicago - so I think that NEU may be shifting its gears to attract more competitive applicants rather than drive them away. No one that was overqualified had been rejected from our school - our Valedictorian had <2000 SAT, so despite the impressive rank, the SAT was a definite weakness that apparently NEU couldn’t overlook. </p>
<p>@preamble1776 sounds logical to me. seems like SAT is a huge factor to NU. but i wonder what BU will be like this year. </p>

I don’t believe there was anything wrong with my application! I had strong essays that were approved by multiple people and glow in recommendation letters! :(</p>

I’m not sure about the grades though because it says it’s out of 4 but it’s also weighted so there are students thay have above a 4.0 GPA
That’s why the whole weighted unweighted GPA thing confuses me ^^;
