Submitted October, 28th they asked for my midterm grades the second week of Nov and I’ve still heard nothing (applied to ENG). I’ve given up hope
Well, those who haven’t heard back yet, be prepared to be rejected. They are just gonna release all the rejected notifications on December 15.
@clovers Did BU tell you this?
@ryanspretti Can I ask you about your GPA or extra activities something like that?
Anyone get admission offer? If there are, could you explain your GPA or extra activities something like that?
@buddy92 Well, just think about it. The enrollment deposit deadline is Dec 15. Giving someone a day or 2 to decide whether or not to enroll just doesn’t make much sense. Plus, the financial aid is not going to be posted until your admission decision is, which mean if your financial aid has any issue it needs to be taken care of within that one-day timeframe period, which doesn’t make much sense either.
Here’s my deduction. The transfer pool this year is so strong that BU can’t be sure about the number of enrollments out of the accepted ones (they might end up going to better schools). So they are just holding on to the rejected applicants and wait for the admitted students to make their deposits. If they receive an expected number of deposits then everything is all set, they release all the rejected notifications. However, if they don’t get enough, they will take some of the rejected ones (strong ones) and tell them that they are admitted. This is just my opinion, for whatever reason they can’t accept too many nor too few so they have to do this. Perhaps, it’s largely because of stats and reputation.
@clovers please actually call BU directly instead of making assumptions.
@buddy92 I had to make an account just because we were in the same situation lol and I got really scared that the deposit deadline was tomorrow and that the rest of the decisions after was going to be rejections! I called BU this morning and I spoke to a lady named Jackie and she said that admission decisions are still going to be released until the beg. of January and that enrollment deposit deadlines are not a one size fits all type of 'ting and are depending upon the individual (based on when you sent in the application and the date of your admissions decision where the enrollment deposit is due 2 weeks after that date).
We can both take a lil breather! Good luck to everyone whose still waiting. Praying for ya’ll and I hope we all get accepted. Remember a rejection is not worth your value.
You da real MVP. I figured it was like this (rolling basis) but I was a bit scared to ask.
Good luck to everyone, I hope to see you all (hopefully) at bu next term
To everyone who got in: When did you send in your app (and any supplementals)
@mangocubes Thank you for saving the last bit of hope in me. That assumption was made merely out of desperation. Looking back, aalharr said he was accepted on Nov 29 and he said the enrollment deposit is on Dec 15 (about 2 weeks). Also, BU doesn’t say anything about enrollment deposit deadline on the website, so I guess it really is just his deadline. Everything makes much more sense now!
@Pilot996 @mangocubes @buddy92 and everyone else, let’s be friends (if accepted) for getting through this hard time together lol. Wish you all the best of luck.
Keep calm and … just wait!
@clovers @mangocubes We were all worried for nothing! Thank you @mangocubes for calling to check. Although I am a bit relieved, I really hope we are notified before Christmas. I don’t know about you guys, but that is cutting it incredibly close to next semester! I’d still have to withdraw from my current school and cancel my tuition payment, plus apply for loans for BU.
@clovers @Pilot996 @mangocubes I’d love to meet up and be friends! Maybe I’ll see you guys next semester. Good luck everyone!
Yep. Not a penny in institutional aid, therefore, hard pass. Committed to Tufts on basically a full ride. See you guys across the river!!
“We recognize your strong commitment to your studies and appreciate the time and effort that went into preparing your application. However, …” you know what comes next.
Best of luck to those who are still waiting.
@clovers WE were both right. Rejected (with a 3.9GPA) as well. All well. It wasn’t meant to be.
My portal updated to this:
“Our records indicate that your application for admission is complete. Admission decisions for January 2017 will be posted between mid-November and late December. Please verify your address (including e-mail address) by clicking Applicant Address.” so idk what that means
I’m sorry to hear about those rejections, I really wish ya’ll the best. If BU is still where you want to be at and see yourself at then honestly there’s no harm in applying again. This is actually my second time applying to BU. I feel like I’ve been waiting for the longest. I’m still waiting on my decision and waiting on my financial aid from NYU. This has been the longest month ever.
