Is it just me, or does almost everyone who has been rejected have around a 3.8??? Is that an unlucky number this year or something? hahaha

My daughter was just rejected. Poli Sci major. 4.16 GPA :(

they handled their admissions very poorly! very disappointed with this school!

I just wish it wasn’t so blunt. Some colleges at least apologize and wish you luck elsewhere

Rejected

Business admin major

3.65 UC gpa (cal poly gpa is probably a little lower since my freshman year grades sucked)
2090 SAT (1390/1600)
In state

I wouldn’t have attended even if I got accepted but I’m still disappointed. After being rejected here my confidence level for being accepted to davis, irvine, or santa barbara dropped.

VERY Poorly!!! Everyone who’s been rejected has better stats than those who got in… What is happening here??

How does a 2090 get rejected??? This is NOT an ivy league school!

Decision: DENIED
Computer Science Major
3.7 UW GPA
1700 SAT
25 ACT

I got in to CP Pomona, but I really wanted to go to SLO… ![]()
Oh well, maybe it just isn’t the school for me.

@blondiex293
I agreee completely. whatever, this school has no way of knowing who a person truly is based on what a GPA and SAT or ACT score!! the UC system is very different and I am soo glad
if calpoly realy wants to be this picky about picking students to attend their school, then they need to have some sort of supplement or essay to really understand a person! otherwise its just b.s. the way they are choosing who is accepted and rejected!!!

Yeah, I bet all of the people who got rejected here get accepted to the best UC’s!
They really need to start asking for essays and letters of recommendation.

I’m soo scared I won’t get into Cal Poly Pomona now :[ I’ll be stuck at either University of the Pacific or CSU San Bernardino :[ ugh… Wish me luck lol

I agree with what you are saying but you are forgetting Cal Poly is a state school. The rest of the state schools are designed for the average high school student. They are set up to deal with a large number of applicants who most often are good students but not great students. Cal Poly is a huge exception. It is very different than any other state school in California but it is still a state school so it has to follow the same admission rules and/or policies (mostly SAT and GPA). Due to low cost and reputation a huge number of highly qualified students apply to Cal Poly but many get overlooked because of the way they accept students. I dont think it will ever change. It is lucky that we have the UC system in California.

If it’s any calm, my sister’s best friend was denied from Cal Poly but accepted to Berkeley. I really think it’s the ability to show you’re more than a few numbers

yess and that is why I’m actually happy I dont have to deal with that whole issue at a school like that!

True, I see what you mean…

Well, congratulations to all that got in!

ugh, Cal Poly really shattered my confidence today lol.

side note: One of my friends got accepted with a 3.2 GPA and around 1700 on his SAT to Computer engineering. Another one of my friends also applied to computer engineering, had around a 3.5ish GPA with more APs and a 1960 on his SAT and got rejected.

weird.

ya thats just ridiculous! oh well there are def better schools out there

Wow, really?? I just don’t understand what’s going on here. And I bet all of the people who got rejected have taken tons of AP’s. I even saw that one person got an 800 on the Physics subject test. I know that Cal Poly doesn’t consider those, but come one! Don’t they know who they’re turning away here? haha

I agree it makes no sense. It is not only at Cal Poly. I have interest from UCSD, UCLA but nothing from UCSB or UCI. Got accepted OOS with great scholarships but cant get a penny in California.

Rejected just now.
3.5? GPA unweighted, 3.7 weighted
BioSci
1960 SAT
Asian

Oh well, looking forward to the UC’s instead.

Jlewis24, they shattered mine too :[ I’m not saying that I SHOULD have been accepted because clearly there are much more qualified applicants, but now that I got my first rejection I’m starting to feel that there will be many more to come
