****official cal poly slo class of 2018 decisions****

There was a change in the portal

Some information from last year on BME…if you dont get accepted very soon…it was in the march/april time period.

“Son heard today he did not get into Biomedical Engineering. 4.2 GPA, 2010 SAT, in state.
A friend of his called admissions a month ago to find out why he got rejected (he had higher stats than my son) Admissions told him that they did a lottery of the top applicants this year for BE. What a crazy, unprofessional way to choose students. It is time to look at more than GPA and test scores Cal Poly!”

If that is in fact true, I am astonished that they would make such a big decision in such a haphazard way. Some of those very qualified kids with high scores may be limited to the CSU system because of their financial situation. While they may get into other schools that are as good and some may think better, they may not be able to afford those schools without scholarships or generous financial aid packages. I would hate to see all of the hard work many students put into achieving top grades and test scores be subjected to a roll of the dice.

This was near the absolute end. i scrolled thru several pages noticing many bioME majors getting rejected with 4.0+ calpoly gpa and 2000+ sats.

many people here for BME are gonna be real dissapointed. fortunately ur stats will do just fine for MANY other schools, its just that calpoly’s bme program is so small…

Sooo, my friend got wait listed for Math major today, but I still have no determination (we’re the same major). Is this a good thing or a bad thing that i still have no determination? LOL, because im scared right now.

to be honest, considering they have 45,000 apps I don’t think there is any rhyme or reason. I think they do engineering and agriculture first because that’s obviously their primary departments and then they just role through, take a break, and role through again.

@tintinucd

@53polo okay thanks! this is getting to be a huge pain now. 2 weeks now with no news, pretty frustrated with CP.

@tintinucd no problem, i’m not sure if it’s true, but from what i’ve seen, there is NO pattern. my friends who were in Agg or engineering got in already and the rest of us are waiting. So it’s definitely not by county or city. I’ve also heard of a girl getting in during march. Hang in there! I’m in the same boat. I really hope you get in!!!

Got wait listed for Nutrition today. I am an in state girl with 4.07 CSU/4.2 weighted/3.95 unweighted GPA. 2020/2400 SAT (710W+670CR+640M). Congrats to other applicants who were accepted

@swagmaster and @navy71 - are either of you aware if Kinesiology is an impacted major or a very small department?

Cal Poly really making the MechE’s wait this year…

still no decision for comp sci yet. wondering if this is meaning a rejection is to come

Nothing for Comp Engineering or Comp Sci either.

How competitive is computer science?

I think its pretty competitive but I wouldn’t think it would be more competitive then any other engineering

Hopefully you hear back soon. I’m still waiting for Bio

Accepted 2 days ago to BME. average stats. 4.12 CSU/4.38 fully W UC GPA. 2120 (1360) SAT. 34 (35,34,34,31,33W) ACT. honestly didnt think i had a good shot since cal poly is solely numbers based. probably not going to go here tho. see my profile for more indepth stuff (sat 2’s, ap’s, ec’s). message for any q’s!

@daphne66 Every major at Cal Poly is impacted by default since they make you declare upon application. You can see this shown here for reference:

http://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/impactedprogramsmatrix.pdf

@coolkat123 I see your GPA as high as CP looks at and although your SAT w/o writing a bit low your ACT is outstanding. Provided you took difficult classes I would say you had (obviously) a very good shot. Definitely top 75th percentile.

ughhhhhhh has aerospace engineering come out yet for in-state people? :frowning: gahhh “no determination has been made yet” killin meee
