See ya all around.

It’s unbelievable how so many of you with phenomenal stats got rejected to SLO! Sometimes, things happen for a reason. Perhaps this reason is that you’re meant to blossom your wings at another school- maybe for the best because who knows? You might make it big for going to where you end up. Good luck to the incoming freshmen class and hope all goes well for you.

Sorry to everyone getting the bad news. My son will get home soon and check the portal.
Remember where you graduate from does not make that much difference over time.

computer science, Aerospace Engineering, Bio Med…are very competitive major…many person over 4.0 GPA & 2000 SAT rejected.

The past couple of weeks have absolutely befuddled me. Today I learned I’d been rejected. I’ve been told that SLO admissions is based on some sort of calculated score from GPA and standardized test scores. Why I was rejected I have no idea.

Applied to BME
SAT: 2290 (1560 Reading and Math)
SAT II: 800 Math II, 760 BioM
GPA: 4.56 (4.0 unweighted)

Sorry for complaining; I just have no idea why I wasn’t accepted.

@parkreation Wow, that’s incredible that you were denied. I can’t imagine them accepting someone with better stats.

@parkreation You’re a genius and a hardworking student. You will probably be accepted elsewhere and be offered scholarships.

Rejection:
Local
Kinesiology (my stats are a little low so I didn’t feel as if I had too much of a chance)
SAT:1820
ACT:27
GPA: 4.2

@parkreation – Wow, it’s hard to believe that you were rejected with those stats. BME, I believe, is the most competitive major at CP. Apparently they had 1924 BME freshman applicants for only 75 openings (3.8%). If they had a high yield rate last year in BME, it’s possible they didn’t accept too many more than that into the program this year. BME is the most popular engineering major among girls in engineering, and is a major that is not offered by that many colleges in California. Combine those two considerations with the stellar reputation of CP Engineering, the central California coastal location and weather, and the (relatively) low price tag of a CSU, and the competition becomes unbelievably tough in that small department. You’ll have lots of other great options, I am sure. Best wishes!

I was pretty sad that I was rejected. Cal poly was my first choice because it’s a great school and my brother goes there for computer science. It would have been nice to be a part of that community. But i feel extremely bad for @parkreation.

Sorry if this is redundant, but can anyone tell me if emails of rejection notices have been sent out, or is it just through the portal?

Damn :(

@santacruz1 I received no email. I just checked my portal.

@parkreation I simply cannot believe you got rejected.

Rejected civil engineering, just glad it is over

@parkreation
Is that your CSU GPA capped? If it is, it’s unusually high (which means you were not taking enough a-g classes)? Also the maximum CSU GPA on their calculation is 4.21.

CalPoly gives bonuses for extra a-g classes in Math, Science, Foreign Language and Arts. Also they don’t consider AP scores and Subject test scores.

Still, with a great GPA and score like yours, it must be devastating. I’m sure you have other options.

My daughter was accepted for CompSci and I think she got in because of the combinations of high GPA, relatively high CR+M but importantly a lot of extra semesters on the subjects that I mentioned (12 sem of Math, 14 sem of Science, 8 sem of Foreign Language and 4 sem of VPA).
