Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2210 (790 M, 740 CR, 680 W)
[] ACT: 35 (36 M, 36 S, 35 E, 32 W)
[] SAT II: 800 Math2, 800 Chem, 740 US History
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.88
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 13/550+
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): 5’s in BC Calc, CS A, Stats, Chem, and USH. A 4 in Euro.
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): n/a
[] Senior Year Course Load: Heavier than it should be
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Uh, I had sort of a resume attached to my common app. I have a lot of awards in mathematics, some in programming, and a few more in other areas. None of them were really USAMO-level though.
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Math Club (President, and also signed the school up for numerous competitions over the last two years), Programming Club (President and Founder), Science Bowl (Captain), Science Olympiad, and a few others as well
[] Job/Work Experience: n/a
[] Volunteer/Community service: A few math competitions and some volunteering with the local First Tee Chapter, along with a few other things. Nothing very major though.
[] Summer Activities: Most notably, Canada/USA Mathcamp
[] Essays: Eh, I thought they were pretty good. I’m wary about posting their details here since the majority were rather personal.
[] Common App Main: I chose to answer the diversity essay, focusing on not only racial diversity, but also intellectual and social diversity too. I was (and still am a bit) suspicious that the essay is not very focused, but I guess it still gets my thoughts across.
[] EC Short Answer: I chose to talk about my experiences with Mathcamp, and I think it demonstrated my passion for mathematics pretty well.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I imagine they were both pretty good. My first was from the advisor of the Programming Club I helped to start, and my second was from my junior english teacher, whose class actually spurred somewhat of an interest (or at the very least, an appreciation) for writing and literature.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably pretty good too.
[] Supplementary Materials: I had a supplemental recommendation from my Mathcamp academic advisor. I wasn’t one of the most brilliant students of his by any account, but I did enjoy a number of the advanced classes that he taught. I also submitted a research paper that I wrote and submitted to the Siemens Competition and recently, the Intel STS competition, though I wish I had more time to work on it (I had to research and write the paper in about 2 weeks).
[] Interview: LOL Caltech doesn’t do interviews, as a number of people were apt to tell me back when I was still looking at colleges. Also, the inclusion of this category probably indicates that I originally copied the Stanford outline posted in the first few replies on this thread.
[] Hook: I guess I come from a school and/or region where there is not too much going on in terms of science and/or mathematics (though I am definitely attending one of the top high schools here). I doubt I would have gotten in with these stats had I had more opportunities.

[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Mathematics, most likely.
[] State (if domestic applicant): Ohio
[] School Type: Medium-Large Public High School
[] Ethnicity: Asian (Indian)
[] Gender: Male
[li] Income Bracket: Somewhere between $100-150k
[/li]

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
Really, I’m not sure about any of this. All I know is that I somehow got into Caltech, and I’m super-thankful for that! It’s going to be one of my top considerations come Spring
