yeah, I did get to meet them. When I arrived, everyone knew who I was. My admissions officer came up to me and congratulated me on my acceptance. I also met the deans while there. It was pretty much the one time that ALL of the admissions people were together and socializing with admitted students :)

I actually missed the international student chat cuz i got am/pm confused (due to time zone differences). I had my coffee ready to chat in the am until i realized the chat already happened 12 hours ago. It was sad on many levels. Are you CC or SEAS?

@pineapplecrush
they probably all know you cuz you’re a Kluge Scholar, hehe. i doubt all the officers know every single applicant.

i went onto Columbia’s website and saw that a lot of freshman courses already had enrollment. are people actually starting to enroll in courses already?

I went to Perspectives on Diversity + Days On Campus. It was phoenomenal. Absolutely amazing. My admissions officer spotted me, came up to me, and gave me a big hug haha. It was pretty cool that they knew all about our applications. I met the dean of admissions too. He’s really awesome. Great sense of humor! I’m like going through withdrawal now because it was too fantastic :(

^
lol withdrawal. two (or three?) more months and you’ll be there, don’t worry. how does the Days on Campus compare to, say, Brown’s or other schools’?

and agh, i still haven’t gotten my financial aid award. last time i checked, i got a Columbia Grant of $1.00 for the fall semester even though my family’s income is less than 100k. it was a mistake though, but they still haven’t updated it i called their office, and it took them 5 minutes of putting me on hold until they realized that “it is indeed a mistake.” is this the inefficient bureaucracy current students are referring to? oh well, Columbia still rocks though.

It wasn’t just me though, haha. They pretty much knew everyone. It was like coming home :)

Wait, isn’t the dean of admissions Jessica Marinaccio - a lady?

Excuse me, I mean Director of Admissions, Peter Johnson.

Jessica is really awesome too.

I went as well and had a fantastic time :)

Can people share their dorm assignments? They were announced about a few days ago if I’m not mistaken. I got Carman 8th floor.

@Crashoveride there is a housing assignment thread in the main Columbia forum:)
I’d give you the link but I’m on CC from my phone.
