Official Class of 2014 University of Michigan Decisions Thread

They do, I know. And I have an interesting story with the University. I’ve told it so many times though lol. But also I kind of have connections in Ann Arbor. It’s all a long story but pm me if you want the full story haha

what the *, I called in today and the admissions lady kept telling me to freaking send in the * residency report. I ask her if they would make a decision once they got the residency report and she was like no we make decisions on a rolling basis so the residency would be announced seperately. This is going to affect my chances drastically, and I’m filling out the *ing report right now, I don’t know what else to do. I got 4 *ing tests in all my AP classes tomorrow and this monday and I have to finish 3 projects and write 2 papers. IM SO STRESSED OUT. **** my life.

Wow, 26 ACTs have gotten in? And I thought my 2050 SAT would get me rejected…

um. moricarak. what r u talking about!!! are you saying that you have to send in the residency report BEFORE decisions are sent out about your application?! i was under the impression that after they have either accepted or deferred you, you send in ur residency report. i’m a michigan resident… yet also an international student. tho i’ve lived in michigan for 13 freaking years of my life. ■■■. someone want to clear up the residency report confusion??!

“Yeah, I was never really that worried about NWU. My dad’s best friend is an alumni and now a big-time donor with lots of friends in the system, so it was a bit of a sure thing. I really hate playing the system like that, but hey, do whatever it takes, y’know?”

Has anyone read this guy’s posts? Apparently he believes in affirmative action but only for rich kids.

If I had a chain, I think he’d be pulling it about the N.U. (nobody calls it NWU) acceptance.
I read some of his posts- good chance he’s a parent, and an articulate one at that.

But if he did get an acceptance from rich alum making calls and the family of the NU president is waiting like everyone else, then go guy go.

If I had power and connections, I would sure take advantage of it too. But, sadly, I don’t so life goes on.

Mori and Jestergirl – I have posted to you both about this residency evidence. If you do not have it in, please get it in right away. Here’s why. First, it takes 10 weeks or so for them to actually process it.
DO YOU WANT YOUR ADCOM TO BE EVALUATING YOU AS AN OUT OF STATE OR AN INSTATE? EG there are almost TWICE as many spots for instate as OOS students. SO, if you have stellar stats, you residency status may not affect you, but if you’re average or borderline, it will MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Mori - that will be why your adcom wants it in - because you had circumstances that made your gpa on the lowish side for an easy high admit, right?
Get it?
My son got his acceptance AFTER his residency decision, and I believe same was influenced by it because his stats were average to marginal but he came from a rigorous magnet. So hop to it, please! The longer you wait, the busier the residency office gets!

is it going to be another 2 thursdays? I applied sept 24 (slight reach), and my classmate applied oct 24 and just heard back in the last batch, am i in a “maybe” pile,or just waiting to get rejected/deferred?

I called the U of M admissions office today and they said decisions come out every two to three weeks. On Thursday.

two to THREE? jesus christtt.

i need to stop compulsively checking every day, in that case.

@kmccrindle: I know you are sooo right. I’ve filled out literally everything in a day, and my parents ran ALL over the place to get the papers. My mom told me something about work papers being delayed because it had to be processed. Everyone around me is getting answers back, and Im doing all I can to fix this problem IM FREAKING OUT.

SAT-1870

Out of state
Other Factors: Spent a week there at u of m in summer program…that must have really helped

good luck to everyone else!!

Mori, don’t panic. It sounds like the adcom had already taken it into consideration so that may be a positive sign (eg. they could have just deferred you outright) – you will just have to wait longer for your answer. But even with 10 weeks to process you still applied early and you’re not waiting any longer than someone who would be deferred pending 7th terms marks…This will give you the opportunity to send in your 1st terms marks since your trend has been upward, right? And that will help shore up from those rough early years re: GPA. So hurry but relax : )

And JESTERGIRL, to clear it up, GET YOURS IN IMMEDIATELY AS WELL TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF ACCEPTANCE : )

first of all, I got acccepted on Thursday
Second, an update on my (and others) previously posted residency designation question. Ultimately, it did pay off to call and make sure they knew I was verified as In State. It took multiple calls to the residency people but I finally found out that they hadn’t verified me as in state because I did a study abroad program for one summer (huh???). So with that fixed, I received my acceptance. Might be a coincidence, but I think not.

I got accepted this week and my residency status has yet to be verified. So it’s not holding your app back.

^ Yeah, but being out of state will definitely hurt his chances…

Just to be clear – in my comments I am suggesting that it is ENTIRELY POSSIBLE to be accepted without having completed the Residency filing or been approved. It’s just that in cases that are not as clear cut, where the applicant is not necessarily a “high admit” as they say, that’s where having in-state designation seems to make a difference. Like the poster a few comments above, my s. received his acceptance a few days AFTER he received his residency verification/confirmation. So I agree that in some cases it appears that some applications are held in order to consider residency. SOME, but not all.

Congratulations, ninibu !!!

When you submitted your application?

BTW, anyone got decision who submitted application near deadline (Oct 30th/31st)?
