** Official Class of 2018 University of Michigan EA Decisions Thread **

24th at the latest :persevere:

Michigangirl22ā€¦OMG lol, I understand what you are saying. I frinkin agree with you. However, decisions wonā€™t be tomorrow, that is all that Iā€™m saying. Look, I hope Iā€™m wrong, please, I really do. I donā€™t mean that decisions will be right on the 24th, LOL. I ment closer to the 24th. Thats all. lol

I wonder how they choose who is released on which day

Taking tests and quizzes next week is going to be tough lol gnā€¦

Taking two tests tomorrow will be even worse, especially considering the timeā€¦

I leave this forum for one hour and this is what I come back toā€¦
In a lack of better words, I am entertained.
I, too, also wonder how they decide whose decisions go in what waves. I feel like it is automatically generated in a completely random order by a computer. Alphabetical would be awesome, though. My last name starts with an ā€˜Aā€™ (now Iā€™m just making stuff up so I donā€™t go crazy speculating haha)

I doubt theyā€™re going to release them over several batchesā€¦
Itā€™s probably just going to be over one weekend like in past years. If they were to release half the decisions this week and the rest next week, there would be chaos. I doubt they want to deal with hundreds to thousands of phone calls from kids, parents, and counselors wondering why some students have received decisions and others havenā€™t. Iā€™m hoping for tomorrow, but I am expecting next Friday to be the release day. Thereā€™s just nothing besides the history of releases that is pointing towards tomorrow. Last year they had history, counselor e-mails about the release date, and support by the admissions office that the decisions were coming out shortly.

@Miw140 Yeah, Iā€™m with you on that. Next Friday is definitely looking more probable than tomorrow :frowning: Almost every single person that called/emailed the admissions office has gotten an outright ā€œnoā€ about decisions coming out tomorrow. I mean, if you think about it, do you really think that the admissions office would outright lie to thousands of people about when the decisions would be released? I doubt they would be THAT deceptive. Theyā€™re secretive, thatā€™s for sure, but I donā€™t think they are liars. This is a bummer :(

Wolverine Access is down!!! I take this as a sign theyā€™re changing application statuses today!

or maybe there is just a lot of people who are trying to enter to wolverine access with a hope that decisions are today and it caused the site to be down

Let me dream

Actually, itā€™s neitherā€¦ Wolverine Access is always down from 4am to 6am. At least thatā€™s what it says in the Hous of Operation menu. Sorryā€¦

Iā€™m going to be checking this thread and wolverine access an unhealthy number of times today.

Okay, n the interest of helping you guys not be devastated here, Iā€™m going to attempt to correct some notions.
This one:

It has never been ā€œjust over one weekend.ā€ They DO NOT release ALL the decisions at once. They release them in WAVES based on how many files are completed. That said, you may see a ā€œmajorityā€ of decisions over a single weekend, but to date, never ALL.

So when you see that someone has received an acceptance is Bose Idaho, that does not usually meant you will get your decision that day in Jacksonville FL. It doesnā€™t even mean youā€™ll get your decision in Boise Idaho that day. You mightā€¦or you might not.

And many of those decisions will be deferrals, meaning there is more waiting ahead.

So please, please, please do not freak out if others have received a decision and you havenā€™t. However, if the 24th comes and goes and you still donā€™t have a decision, call to check your status. Not before :)

^ Totally agree. That is the reason they set a later day for guarranteed annoucement by. Next Friday may be too late to start the admission notice to be completed by 12/24. Nevertheless, it happened in the past they delayed the announcement of admission. So even the ā€œguarranteeā€ day may be not a firm guarantee.

Lol is there anyway they can reject a USAMO qualifier?

One qualification will not carry your app if your other stats are low

In my experiences as a student at Michigan, ā€œyou will have it by [date x]ā€ can and does frequently mean ā€œyou will have it on [date x].ā€ That may not hold true with admissions this time around, but be prepared for that possibility.

Again, there are no guarantees, but I still feel confident decisions will be released today. I just checked my email from last year (again I am apart of Michigan 2017) and the time release for admissions was THE SAME.

(We will contact you if we need any additional information and appreciate your patience as we review your application. Your decision will be released by December 24, 2012. Go Blue!).

We found out December 14th, 10 days before that date. They say December 24th because they donā€™t want to interfere with holidays (Christmas) as a lot of people get deferrals and it can ruin holidays (trust me).

I still believe decisions will be released today BUT there will probably be A TON of deferrals! The reason there were so many last year was because they simply didnā€™t have time to get to all of the applicants and review their stats in depth (tons of applicants which is the same as this year, but even more!). Hence why there were even different deferral lettersā€¦ some more positive stating essentially that they like what they see but they havenā€™t had time to fully review the whole app, and some more negative as what a real deferral would be that they reviewed your app and need to see other peoples stats before letting you inā€¦

Letā€™s pray decisions do in fact come out today!! (rooting for my boyfriend to get accepted!!)
GOOD LUCK TO ALL

Well I guess another way you could look at it is BECAUSE they donā€™t want to repeat what happened last year, theyā€™re going to spend more time looking at more applications instead of deferring. I think this is better anyways - waiting a few days to get an absolute decision is better than getting deferred and having to wait months.

Also considering the fact that there were problems with the common app, Iā€™d bet that weā€™ll probably not get our decisions today (although I hope iā€™m wrong).
