Georgia Tech postponed from 21st to 5th January, but I don’t think Michigan will postpone. Otherwise, we would get the email by now.

My point. Only that I do think 2300+ means admission looks closer to your app and a larger chance that the situation you described take place.

Or probably it’s just because I am international and conclude from other international cases I know of… Won’t matter in a week anyway

and best of luck everyone!

Any idea as to how the emails get sent out? Are the waves random, alphabetical, etc? Or do deferrals go first, then acceptances?

Hi guys, quick question, my mom keeps telling me that if I don’t meet a certain score on the sat that u michigan will throw away and not look at your application, besides a 680 on math 600 writing 520 reading, my stats are pretty good, does anyone know if this is trur

In Fall 2011, the waves seemed to be completely random. People speculated the acceptances were sent first, but I know some kids who got deferred emails that first night also. I don’t personally know anybody who was flat out rejected so I can’t speak to when they received their emails. My D got her acceptance that year around 11:35 pm Friday night.

I think they’ll go out the 13th primarily because finals end on the 20th. I suppose they could sent them out that weekend, but really- it’s the holidays then- they do not want to be working all weekend that weekend. It’s possible, but I’d say it is unlikely.

No Umich admissions will not throw out an application without giving it a complete review, no matter any single stat

As far as admissions in waves go I don’t think acceptances are first, then deferrals etc. but I know majority of those who found out earliest were acceptances. They started around 3pm for us (I live in Michigan so ET, so depending on what time that is for everyone else you could find out earlier/later…). Again, I am very certain (but always not 100%) that they will come out the 13th. Seeing the pattern from past years as well as when Umich classes end (the 11th) and when finals end (the 20th) they are likely to do it when students/faculty are still at the university. By the 20th almost no one is left on campus and I doubt the admissions counselors want to work over break to answer thousands of emails from deferred students/parents.

Is it harder to get into UMich if you’re out-of-state? Or do instate and out-of-state applications get the same consideration?

Hello, I have a question about dual applications.

I applied to Michigan Engineering for the EA date, but I also plan to apply for Taubman College for architecture during the RD date (they don’t offer applications for the EA date). I’m not sure if this will happen, but if I get accepted to Michigan Engineering and I decide that I don’t want to apply to Taubman College anymore, am I allowed to be admitted to Michigan Engineering without applying to Taubman College (even though on the application I said those were my intentions)?

(I know that for dual applications, if you apply to both and are accepted to one college, you can enroll in that one, but I’m not sure if it’s acceptable if you don’t even apply to both.)

I don’t think you are allowed to apply to the same university twice in the same academic year

Does anybody know if they send the email to the account that your Wolverine Access is linked to or if it’s the email included on the application? Also, is the decision in the actual email or do you have to go to WA to get it? When does the letter/packet come in the mail?

@2014emily2014

I believe it’s the email in your application though I’m not sure. You can easily have two tabs open with both emails though. The decision is in the actual email but I hear your decision is actually usually updated first in WA before the email gets to you. Letter/packet is on the 24th I think

@cabooser
Thanks so much! Opening that email will be nerve racking!

@Ketchum

Oh, sorry if I made it sound that way. I was actually talking about UMichigan’s option for dual applications (applicants can apply to 2 colleges within the university) haha. But I guess my question is pretty difficult to know the answer to because not many people are/have been in the same situation. :/

Does anybody know where on Wolverine Access the decision will be shown?

Probably right when you click “Application Status”. I doubt it will be that hard to find lol

I have a unique situation. I’m not able to log into wolverine access because I was a summer volunteer research assistant and during this experience I had an account set up for me but it was not set up all the way. I’m too lazy to contact the school to fix this so I basically can’t log in my WA. Is this a big deal? I hope the email just says accept or defer so I can know haha. I did get an email though saying I was qualified for EA though!
