[]IB (place score in parentheses): N/A
[
]Senior Year Course Load: Precalc, Environmental Science, AP Psych, AP Lit & Comp, AP Econ, AP Gov
[li]Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): N/A[/li][/ul]

Subjective:

[ul]
[]Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): National Honor Society, danced in preprofessional ballet company for all of high school, published in 4 magazines. Also had a lot of volunteer hours.
[
]Job/Work Experience: Work for a non-toxic product company with a strong message, babysat a lot.
[]Volunteer/Community Service: Like I said, LOTS of community service hours. Teaching dance, feeding homeless, etc.
[
]Summer Activities: Working
[]Essays: Very good. I had a very clear voice and my stories, perspectives, and writing ability were all very unique/interesting. My CA essay was a work that I was very proud of. And my supplements were pretty witty, and although I demonstrated my interest clearly, I didn’t take myself too seriously. I think that was important.
[
]Teacher Recommendations: 8/10. Both teachers really loved me and my work. However, they were both senior year teachers, so they didn’t get a chance to know me very well before composing the recommendations. (The recs I had lined up fell through: one passed away over the summer and the other quit…)
[]Counselor Rec: She was awful, was about to quit and basically refused to write one.
[
]Additional Rec: My dance teacher. I assume it was pretty great, because she’s known me since I was eight.
[li]Interview: American’s are informational, and I had mandatory commitments the day they were visiting my city.[/li][/ul]

Other

[ul]
[]State (if domestic applicant): California
[
]Country (if international applicant):
[]School Type: Online public charter school
[
]Ethnicity: White
[]Gender: Female
[
]Income Bracket: > $75,000
[li]Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): My dad didn’t go to college. I don’t think that really counts, though.[/li][/ul]

Reflection

[ul]
[]Strengths: My writing skills, passion, and drive. My test scores (ACT English, CR, and writing were all almost perfect.)
[
]Weaknesses: Some of my test scores. (Math & science.)
[]Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: I don’t really know, honestly. I think my passion for my field of study was very clear, and my essays really gave my application dimension/personality. They also specifically referred to the strength of my resume in my acceptance letter (not sure if that was generic) and also referenced my dedication to dancing.
[
]Where else you are applying or have already applied: BU, Northeastern, Brown, Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Fordham, Chapman, Pepperdine, Mount Holyoke, Loyola Marymount, Sarah Lawrence.
[li]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: Excited to be part of the class of 2019! This just goes to show that a few low test scores are most certainly not the determining factor in the decision-making process! I’m going to visit campus later this month - sadly, it’ll be after Admitted Students day. [/li][/ul]
