Do you think the fact that the counselor for “M” students is no longer receiving emails will hurt students in any way? Who are these kids supposed to reach out to for guidance if they were deferred? I hope they are not the forgotten few.
I got accepted into Northeastern and the University Honors Program. I am a bioengineering major.

[ *] Volunteer/Community service:
Research/computer work for head of otolaryngology department at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital. Chose me to lead patient data management project, and he wrote me probably my best recommendation. My essays all revolve around this work. Probably among the most important parts of my app

[ *] Counselor Rec: She said she emphasized my “diversity”… I’d probably say 7-8/10

@NewEnglandBound what was your December ACT score? Are you full pay?
The average weighted GPA of applicants admitted at Northeastern is 3.9/5.0. Yours comes up to a 3.8 if weighted.
All the best anyway!
@suzyQ7 I am full pay, and didn’t take the ACT’s in dec. My ACT is a 29 though
@Garyguy909 yeah I have a pretty decent upward trend, but ~30/31 applicant from my school (who have much better stats than me) got deferred EA, so I don’t think I’d stand out to greatly in the RD pool. Thanks though!
@NewEnglandBound Well, your EC’s are just fine, and your GPA isn’t great, but remember that averages have 50% above and 50% below. The diversity part could help you out a lot too. Either way, I wish you the best!
@NewEnglandBound! Nah man, the decision is holistically reviewed. Don’t worry. You’ll get in if everything else was decent enough. Don’t lose hope!
Thanks guys! @Garyguy909 @Merppity
Sorry if stupid question, how does school know if you’re full pay or not? If you don’t file CSS or FAFSA?
@infogeek If you do not file FAFSA or CSS then you will not get need based aid. If you need aid and don’t qualify for merit aid then you won’t be able to afford to attend.
@infogeek on the common app it asks if you are going to be applying for financial aid
are they going to post anywhere when they will be releasing the main bulk of decisions? or should I just check on here on the 17th or 18th (past 2 years decision releases) to see if they are out?
Some people said it was on march 15th
Based on past years it may be Tuesday March 15th.
Dumb question ~ but do they send emails to let us know if we got in RD or snail mail?
@roxey2198 for EA, they sent out emails but not until after they had updated the application portal with that information. I’m assuming it will be the same for RD.
