Official Class of 2020 Northeastern University Regular Decision Discussion

Does anyone know if it would be easier to get in for CS? I got deferred. gl to all, club’s goin up this tuesday!

Does not getting in to NE EA mean I will get no merit aid?

@blueamica - not necessarily. It means that your application is put into the pool with the rest of the RD applicants and re-evaluated as just another application. NEU tends to defer a lot of applicants, so it’s hard to predict merit aid.

@nanotechnology yes that does make sense when you consider what a deferral means… Thanks for the info, hopefully you will be right!

Has anyone heard of a decision from northeastern regular decision yet?

@amy989 Nope, still nothing yet. I think we’ll hear tomorrow. I’m not sure.

ok thanks! They say by April 1 but as is my experience colleges usually release earlier than they say

Hoping to hear back tomorrow!!! I was deferred EA. Does anybody know how many deferred applicants they accepted during RD last year?

From what I’ve read a lot but I don’t know how many.

@notreadyforlife I believe about 3000 deferred applicants were accepted last year.

out of how many? I was deferred too

Northeastern doesn’t officially release those stats, so I’m not sure. About 5,500 out of approximately 22,000 applicants were accepted EA, so I would assume that the majority of the remaining 16,500 or so would have been deferred. I was deferred also, so I’m anxious to hear about my decision (hopefully) tomorrow.

That seems like an incredibly high number of deferrals vs denials.

@mrpwnage That is not a good assumption. In the EA thread there were a fair number of denials. Also if someone is denied they are less likely to admit it here on CC.

Remember that there is also the NUIn decision/

@TomSrOfBoston do you think we will most likely get our decisions on tuesday?

@TomSrOfBoston do they admit students randomly into the NUin ? Kids that didn’t apply to that program but may not have made it otherwise? Also, I was reading that they do give needs based financial aid out to those students as well… true?

No, offers to NUIn are not random. In general they are made to students whose stats are in the bottom 25% of admitted students. I have read too that some need based aid is now offered.

At present you cannot apply to the program. However many regular Fall admits last year expressed interest in it and Northeastern is planning to make it an optional program for sophomores I believe.

Sooooo nervous

im so scared!!!

freaking out
