Columbia —> 2015? Are you a recruited athlete?

No I was admitted last year with the class of 2014. Having a gap year now. =)

I wouldn’t say officially. It’s a really long story.

AHHH SO NERVOUS! Is it safe to say that most people with high numbers, good recs/essays, and decent extracurriculars would get in ED? I realize they say that their “standards” aren’t lower. Which I believe is true. But I feel like, for ED applicants, they would look for solid students, and not necessarily amazing standouts. First of all, most people with “amazing” applications wouldn’t apply ED, since they would be fairly confident that most schools would accept them. Also, wouldn’t they try to form a solid “backbone” for the class with their early, binding applications? There’s not necessarily a concrete difference in standards. But I feel like there would be some less tangible advantages to applying ED. Anyone agree/disagree? That’s just my opinion.

Hey, who else wants to wait 17 more days and find out on Christmas! Sounds like a good idea to me, i don’t feel nervous that way knowing that. its so much longer

die4columbia, I don’t think I could ever do that! idk about you, but for me, waiting…just knowing it’s there, already decided, and then waiting more time?! That would KILL ME…lol
Plus, it would be risky because for me, this decision is already going to either make or break my entire Christmas season. :p

Also, Foutainsofwang, I TOTALLY agree with you. My super-competitive yet aimless high-school classmates were trying to talk me out of applying ED, quoting things about how ED pools are filled with super-students, while I was thinking the opposite; ED pools would be mostly lower-chance students who are positive about their first choice, whereas super-students would be sure that they could apply to a variety of schools RD and be a shoo-in.
I’m so glad i’m not the only one who thinks that!

I’ve been tracking this thread the past few days, just have been too lazy to log in and post hahaha. I also applied ED to Columbia – however, I applied to their Engineering school.

I am SO anxious for the results holy crap. 10 hours and 30 minutes!!! Everyone has been telling me to **** the past few days because I always talk about it haha. I’ll be devistated if I don’t get in honestly I used to think I’d be okay with it, but as it’s getting closer and closer I’m getting more and more nervous.

But good luck to EVERYONE! Most of you seem like amazing people. I know on this site that there are some real snobs, but you guys are great, modest people from what I can tell. That’s one of the things I love about Columbia-- it attracts genuinely interesting people that aren’t snobbish while STILL being an amazing school. Won’t find that at Yale (;

Good luck good luck good luck!

colombia school of engineeering!!!

Good luck to everyone!
I’ve been tracking this for a couple of days too…just too lazy to post as well. Wish everyone luck though, and I’m glad to know that I’m NOT crazy (well alone in my craziness) to be as nervous as I am. :)

good luck everyone!! i kinda don’t think I’m gonna get in… its sooo depressing :S

@mianahrs, if you truly want to attend Columbia, you should at least know how to spell it
Columbia, not Colombia haha

I feel like I’m not going to get in either!!!
AHHH! I’m so freakin’ nervous…

Approximately 8 HOURS.

Anyone else going to log on at 5pm and just refresh the page until the decision pops up???

I’m wondering if they are going to send an e-mail at the exact moment the decision comes up.

If so, I’m going to check my e-mail, not the other page.

They won’t send you a decision via email.

REALLY NERVOUS right now cause i found a typo in my ‘why engineering’ essay and i know they really hate typos. but I have faith. =)

psshh one little typo? I have three typos in my personal essay, with the last sentence reading “…unique perception of the world seen from the perspective of different three cultures, and counting.” Oh well.

What I’m really annoyed about is that I will have to wait another 4 months to find where I will spend the next 4 years of my life. Stupid American system of uncertainty… much easier in Europe where you know for sure before you even apply if you are going to get in.

^^^ still, banking on the “Stupid American System” for the moment… =)

@sunny315x Have you ever watched the show Community? The main character is a lawyer who gets his license taken away because he said he got his degree at Columbia when he actually got in the country of Colombia, haha. Your comment reminded me of that.

That’s the greatest comedy series on TV right now.
