<p>Old topic: My common app essay was about my rock band(s) and how I formed my leadership within those bands.

My supplements were on Atlas Shrugged (About how hard work is always good). My why Columbia was really generic, but it was honestly what I loved best from what I could. I did write that I met the basketball team on the subway though… that was great! Also, the career one, I basically talked about 3 things: my dad going from shift manager of a steel mill to a classic business guy, a book that I read in 8th grade that really put me on the track for law/business, and having been invited to a presentation by the CEO of US Steel at the Duquesne Club (Exclusive :D).
Overall, I’m kinda banking on the idea that my rock band thing might be unique enough… not many people going to Ivies have been in rock bands before xD</p>

<p>I can’t believe how anxious some of you seem. I applied ED and It would be great if I got in, but I really don’t understand why people are this desperate for one school. What reason/experience do you have with Columbia to want it as opposed to any other top school? Just curious.</p>
<p>It would be very fortunate if we can take our univ pressure off by December. Besides, Columbia is a highly ranked Ivy league school in New York City. It would be hard to find an university comparable to Columbia in New York City.</p>
