OFFICIAL Common Application Questions Thread

StrawberryMayo,

Yes, on the first page of the teacher evaluation, the last entry should be the teacher's email address, and after that there is a blank space.

I have a question here.

I have already submitted my Commonapp to the school because I applied under ED. However, I recently came with some ideas about my essays and some other stuff, so I need to change some of the items in my Commonapp. Now all the blanks are grey, which means they are not editable.

Can I edit my Commonapp when after Dec. 15th (the date that the result of ED comes out)? Or can I just creat another account to fill out a brand new Commonapp?

Thanks!!!

You can create a different version of the CommonApp.

My daughter just asked me: can she make multiple versions of the common app, one for each school?

"semester grades"

in answer to a query on filling out mid yr rpts.

how can you fill out a mid year report before the mid year, or semester, results are not yet in?

same question on final report.

joecollegedad - you can't - you have to wait until the first semester (or second trimester) ends, and then send the midyear report. The final report gets sent after the school year ends.

You don't fill out mid year report until you get your semester grades. You don't fill out Final year reports until the year is over. Roght now just fill out the Secondary school report.

so you all are saying that mid yr reports and final reports are not required at the time of admission? we are talking about EA with decisions back from the colleges before the 1st semester is over with.

For letters of rec, do you give teachers envelops or can they fill it out online?

Teacher recs can't be filled out online. You have to write them on on paper and mail them. Mid year and final reports do not count for EA unless your school has already finished a semester. Then you turn in Mid year.

Can one make multiple versions of the common app, one for each school?

Yes, but you have to match up the ID on the paper copies with each online version. For example, if your ID was 2222 for one version, your paper recs and school forms should have 2222 at the bottom. But if your ID for another version is 3333, then your school forms should have 3333 at the bottom.

The adcoms will have no problems matching up school forms and apps even if the CA numbers are different. Dont worry. Many people have given in their rec forms long before the CA relented and allowed multiple copies. No school is going to penalize the students based on some quirky inconsistancy of the CA people.

thanks for the input. So, to send a custom common app to one school, just make sure there is one school selected in the 'TO School' section?

Submitted my CA to my top choice ED. Now, if I'm rejected, and feel that I need to change some data, will I be able to do so?

Question:

One of my colleges is an all-in-1 institution. I haven't finished my common app yet but i finished their supplement. Since they are an all-in-1, can i still submit my supplement now, and then submit the common app before the deadline?

"ALL-IN-1 INSTITUTIONS
The institutions, below, require that BOTH your Common Application AND your Supplement be submitted before your application will be reviewed and processed. Additionally, if you submit your Common Application online to these institutions, you MUST also submit your Supplement online."

Yes, the All-in-1 means they download the two of them together - they won't download the supplement until the application is there.

thanks man, ill send my sup now and the common app after a bit of polishing,
just wanted to make sure
thanks

Is it okay if my high school transcript and teacher recommendations are sent in 3 weeks early but my online application is submitted a day or two before the deadline? Will they lose my letters and transcripts if my application isn't recieved first?

I'm freaking out right now!! Can someone answer this question for me please :)

Yeah, thats just fine. When they get materials before the apps, they throw them in a file. It'll be fine.
