no college of arts and sciences. it also has biological sciences

Sorry about that @mlc6247

@hopefulrm yes, that’s what I was referring to. Good luck with your interview! What major are you applying to?

My to-do list lists every item I need to submit but I’ve submitted them all…should I be worried?

@Autumn97 umm its the computer science and my second option is mechanical

Do the international and domestic fall under the same pool of selection ? Are they different ? If different are the standards same ? Am I the only one who just moved USA applying ED to Cornell ?

@Sushanth24 I think different pool for admissions. You will be in a pool with all other international students, specifically Asian (not Asian American). Quite a few ED applicants are domestic internationals who moved to US when they were young but never became citizens. So you’re not the only one.

Are the standards higher than the domestic ones and what about the acceptance rates? @Kungpaoasian

@Sushanth24 The acceptance rates for international students are most definitely lower than domestic students, though I’m not sure by how much. If you noticed, the portion of international students at Cornell is around 14% if I recall correctly?

@Sushanth24 The international quota is very small compared to the domestic one and with several very highly qualified international applicants, it makes the acceptance rate lower. If you have a strong application and wrote awesome essays, you’ll have a good shot of getting in. Have you considered applying to some colleges in India like IIT?

but for ED international applicants at cornell according to my visit tour guide was 67 last year .

Has anyone in California (Los Angeles area) had an interview yet?

The thing with IIT is that it doesnt consider the SAT scores. Basically you need to take an entrance test which is solely based on subjective knowledge in math physics and chem . Moreover the engineering program at IIT is not as good as the one in Cornell .

@Sushanth24 don’t you have to get a perfect score on the exam to be considered? I am Indian too and my parents rave about IIT, saying how not even kids from MIT would be able to compare.

@manas1997 The IIT is more about the theory & only engineering but at Cornell you get to do engineering with more practicals , you can try other things , you can do the co op program , basically you can become more of a leader and a tech savy kid at same time . IIT is tough . Before coming to USA I did my junior year in India ( I had to repeat cause I was younger than other kids in my grade and also due to graduation requirements ) I was preparing for IIT . Last year I only studied Math Physics and Chem – ( Which are tougher than the AP’s ) , IIT standard is high because its free ( No tuition fees ) and it was ranked as the 3rd toughest exam to crack in the world . Kids from IIT are smart but most of them suck at other things ( English , presentation skills , sports , life skills ). There is a huge difference . Trust me I have been in the IIT accelerated study hall for more than 5 years.
