oh, ok thank you

@jamesjunkers agreed. A lot of people also use ED to try to boost their chances though

I agree with @jamesjunkers, I can definitely imagine that an extra week last year increased the number of EA apps, but not ED. ED is a commitment that should not be made in haste…and if that is why people applied ED, then those apps must have been rushed/poor quality.

@jamesjunkers sooo true! as soon as i finished my cornell ed i applied a couple places ea just because my commonapp was ready to submit hahaha i like the way you think man…also, i saw on the caan link that they have until the 30th to submit the info. if admissions is closed until monday, i predict the email will come this week and that the admission counselors will start reading the applications from the 1st to the 11th. think if it-everyone’s file is just sitting there waiting to be read in a matter of these next 11 days. just my guess haha

I stopped applying to additional schools once I heard from my safety :)

Saved the bit of money I could lol…

Do you think that they will only start reading the applications on December 1st? I thought they have been reading them this whole time

lol same ^

@hotelieatheart I read somewhere on that by around the start of December, they have already made a general idea of who they want and who they don’t.

@hotelieatheart And that’s why the CAAAN volunteers turn their stuff at the end of November. They ask you if you have had anything significant occur since you turned it in. That way, they have a little time to take that into account.

cornell admission blogger, on the subject of early decisions - “We suggest that students complete their SATs by the beginning of November. November SAT scores usually will arrive in time, but there is no guarantee that they will arrive before your application is considered”
http://blogs.cornell.edu/admissions/2013/10/11/10-things-you-need-to-know-about-cornell-early-decision/
that was just my guess based on this because it said “before you application is considered” but who really knows lol i could also be wrong because my predictions implies that hundreds of applications are read in a matter of 11 days which sounds unlikely to me haha

@Radbg74 If only they sent likely letters or something to those people…it would save us all a lot of time and money.

There’s no way they read all the applications in 10 days…

Based on the previous trend of increasing applicants, what do you think this year’s general acceptance rate/ Human Eco. acceptance rate will be? I took a look at the increasing amount of applicants and am rather horrified. How difficult will it be to get accepted in a decade from now? Will Cornell have 8% acceptance rate and Harvard 2.5%?

I think the amnt of ppl applying to college is spose to decrease soon, heard it somewhere

I think both the HumEc and general rate will hover around the same number as last year, I find it very unlikely that either will drop as much as it did this last year

I think it’s also becaus people are applying to 10 colleges now instead of a few. The increasing amount of apps in last few years seems unsustainable, every year is a new record. I’m hoping that this year isn’t hahaha

@BearBear10312 Harvard already accepts 3% regular decision, crazy numbers

guys, do people who get the information sessions have a better chance of getting in?

no

do they just randomly select people to conduct these meetings? i’m so confused
