Official Cornell Class of 2019 Early Decision

Anyone planning on waiting for the physical decision letter instead?

honestly an acceptance letter from Cornell would be the best Christmas present ever

Never heard a truer sentence. Out of curiosity, if you had to draw defined lines, what would you guys consider the qualities of a " clear admit, maybe admit, clear reject"?

did anyone apply to Fine Arts @ AAP (Early decision)?

I personally believe a clear admit would possess : SAT’s of 1550/2300+, top 5% of class, ED, possessing high skill in extremely unique extracurriculars, an unique common app essay as well as an essay that accurately illustrates not only why you want to go to Cornell, but why Cornell would want you, and perhaps strong legacy ties. But this is just my personal opinion.( :frowning: unfortunately, I don’t match a majority of this ). What do you guys think?

Clear Admit:

4.0 GPA
SAT 2700
SAT 2: Math 2: 850, Physics: 840
ECs:
IMO
IIO
Invented and then cured a disease.
Made an app and sold it for $40 mill(Yahoo kid)

Essays:
Common: Talks about how he/she overcame cancer
Cornell: Does he/she really need to write this???

@manas1997‌ lol

@mistyjr lol, he/she doesnt apply to colleges, colleges apply to him/her

I finally joined this thread after watching it for some time. Could someone tell me my chances of getting in?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1713537-predict-me.html

I applied ED to AEM. Do we have a tally of how many people here applied?

@MoSro38: I just have one question… do you take the hardest course load in school?

Besides that, your standardized scores are okay, your ECs are fabulous and your GPA wonderful.
If there is any weak point, I would say that your ACT math and math 2 sat 2 scores are a bit weak but that might not matter depending on which of the majors within CoE you choose.

You have a good chance, but I cannot say 100% because I am not an admissions person.

@titansfan97‌ : We do, somewhere buried in there but it hasn’t been updated for a while, let me pull it up…

i don’t understand why there are so many chance me threads… There’s nothing you can do about it now…

@Autumn97‌ I am taking hardest course load and I am taking Calc BC, which is not offered at my school. I knew the math scores would be my weakness and because of that I had my calculus teacher write one of my letters of rec.

…I never understand why there are ANY chance me threads. No one on here works for Cornell admissions, and they would likely say that without looking at your entire application and rec letters, the conclusion is uneducated.

If I had to guess, people get it right about 50% of the time…so flip a coin, and follow that, it’s likely the same accuracy.
:)>-

@MoSro38‌ : Okay, then I think you are in a good spot and have a sure chance at getting in!

Question: I also self-studied Calc BC, but I’m not sure how do they tell that you self studied? I also got my Calc teach to write my rec, but I didn’t specifically ask him to write that I did so…

@connect1234 yea exactly, you’re instilling false hope. I mean they’re somewhat useful when you’re trying to get your High school stuff together like determining what SAT you need or how your ec’s look like but seriously, you’ve applied ed. you’re done. You may have someone else tell you you’re going to get in a million times, but unless it’s the adcom, it does nothing for you but makes you feel worse if you get rejected.

@AcceptmeED I agree. I-)

@connect1234‌ : I suppose it’s a bit of reassurance? I know I ask people so that I can know what to expect. I know it doesn’t really matter, but I would like to prepare myself for the decision.

@connect1234 I flipped heads, does that mean I’m in? :smiley:
