flyingeagle- I dont think the number of people applying from a particular high school matters. My school is very competitive and 22 students were admitted to Cornell last year (not all ED though). Dont stress about the number of qualified people applying. I think if you are qualified, you will get in regardless of your HS =)

Could “inquiry access denied” under the financial aid be a sign of rejection? or does it mean financial aid has yet to be processed?

Yeah thanks jjj277 that relieves some stress, my school varies each year on how many get accepted to cornell. Like last year they accepted 1/10 but other years they accept like 6/12 so who knows

@AlphaOrionis what if there was nothing on my to-do list to begin with, even though I know for a fact that I applied for financial aid and submitted my documents in a timely fashion? I even got an email a few weeks ago sayin that they got my stuff lol

@volynsal1 I really have no idea. I just think that the admissions process and the financial aid process are completely, 100% seperate of each other. Meaning I think that they calculate everyone’s packages, and if one is accepted they get the package. I just don’t think the “inquiry access denied” thing has anything to do with acception/rejection. There’s no sense in over thinking any of this stuff…

It isn’t an open page because I got a request to make it closed. Plus, I think it makes people a little more comfortable that none of their friends can see all the posts from the group and all that.

Aaaah, you guys D:
I tried logging into the housing portal and I got this screen "Either your session has timed out or you are not currently logged in. "

What’s that supposed to mean ;_; Rejection?

Volynsal, my son applied to CHE and got that same message (“no pending financial aid”) as well. I have to hope it is not connected to acceptance status. I guess we will know in a few days.

Hey guys, do you know how easy it is to change majors in CALS? I applied going in as Development Sociology but honestly, I’m having serious second thoughts and don’t really wanna do that any more. I’m getting more interested in Animal Science, Entomology and Environmental Engineering instead. Thankfully all are located within the CALS, but I’m still worried I’ll get stuck with a major I honestly don’t really want anymore. I feel like such an idiot cause I had to choose between these 4 at the beginning of my app and chose the one I was least interested in thinking it would help me out -_- any advice?

First worry about getting in, then deal with switching majors. I’m guessing it’s fairly simple to switch majors as long as they’re located in the same college…

It’s just that I am interested in sociology, but I really want to explore all of those other things too; so when I went to my high school guidance counselor for advice she said if I want to focus on getting in, I should choose the major with a smaller population and that is less competitive within the same school, hence why I picked it, and a lot of my extracurriculars allowed me to say a lot it within my major choice essay. Only now I’m realizing the future career opportunities aren’t that great, and with all this talk about how the CALS admits by major, I’m worried that means they expect you to stick with a major once you commit to it :P

Well, I guess I’ll know for sure this Thursday whether I can even make a decision like that when I get the notification :/

Any other thoughts/advice on majors in CALS?
