Official Cornell Early Decision Class of 2017

… approximately 84% of the applicants to Cornell don’t get in…from your first post you admitted that you knew your scores made you a long shot. Now the thing to do is embrace the saying “things turn out the best for those that make the best of the way things turn out”!

Got accepted CoE!!!

only without any fa…

tears ;(

Thanks oldfort and I love your posts…thanks for keeping it real :)

Yes, I will make the best of it. Now that I don’t have to travel all the way to Cornell, maybe I can go to a closer school so that I can spend more time at home with my frail old dog who grows closer to death. Perhaps this will repay all of the time lost that was not spent with her and my family and instead on the worthless Cornell application.

Hello new Cornellians! I am a current Cornell freshman who is a Cornell Ambassador. My job is to answer questions to incoming and prospective students about what you should be doing to get ready for your life on the hill. Please feel free to ask me any questions about Cornell! Again, congrats to all who were admitted.

@jpd - Does Bear Necessities sell unprocessed groceries like eggs and raw meat, or will I need to venture off campus for such things?

jpd282 I have a question about dorms…when can you put your request in for both a roomate and which dorm? I have heard conflicting stories. My D wants to room with her friend who also got in.

Your daughter will be able to submit her dorm application on May 1. You will not be able to request for a particular dorm other than all girls dorm, townhouse, and program house.

Since your D got in early, you may want to reserve hotel room(s) for the move in weekend and parents weekend. Ithaca doesn’t have that many hotel rooms. The Statler Hotel is a splurge, but it is very convenient since it is on campus.

I don’t think you could get raw meat or eggs on campus. Both of kids liked the 10 meal plan. They didn’t have time to go back to the dining hall during the day, so they bought lunch at other cafeterias.

Oldfort Thanks very much - good to know. I had already booked our move in date and parents weekend (on the advice of a friend) but believe it or not, the Statler was already booked for move in day? Crazy, huh? So, we booked the Hilton - then the Statler for parents weekend - wondering if the Hilton is okay? One more question: can you request a roomate? Or, do you have to take what they give, either a single or double and who they give you as roomie? thanks very much.

You should put your name on the WL for Statler because a lot of people do cancel at the last minute. Hilton is the next best thing. We booked Statler the day after D2 was admitted.
I believe you can request a roommate (I think it is on the housing application). Both of our kids asked for a single. Cornell has a lot of singles and it is not that much more than double. Our kids have loved their singles. They left the door open when they wanted to socialize and could close the door when they wanted some private time. For many first time college students, lack of privacy is one of the hardest adjustments to make. Our freshman daughter doesn’t feel lonely or lack social life because of her single.

DiegoH1, thank you sooo much!!! You gave me hope.

i got in ED… and submitted the deposit… and sent a scan of the wire transfer by email… i got a reply saying “Thank you”… does this mean that my place is reserved at Cornell University… I have contacted them to verify, but they have not sent anything back??? what do u guys think, I should do next???

There is nothing more you need to do.

Ok… So I should just wait for them to verify, cause I need to make sure before I withdraw my other apps… And I was just wondering if any of u guys have got ur net id’s… When r we going to get them??

Has anyone submitted their mid year report yet?

Will cornell rescind my acceptance If I get a C in AP Calculus BC

Probably not. They will not see your mid year report, only your final report. You still have a whole semester to bring up your grade.

Actually, I called the school and they said that they needed the mid year report whenever it was available. So, it is required, but I doubt that a C in Calc BC is going to get your admission rescinded.

I know I’m a little late here, but I’m accepted ED into the engineering school.
SAT I: M:740 CR:640 W:700
