@harsh: nice humblebrag
@asdf: no they don’t care about a visit. Your ED app is the clearest statement of intent anyone can give.

@T26E4 - I am Indian. Not bragging about exam scores is considered rude here :P

@asdfghbvcx - I think the selection panel doesn’t even get to know whether you visited the campus unless you specify it in your application.

@harshk360 you really need to calm down… bragging is really not necessary

@collegestress14 - gee, I was making a self deprecating remark there. Sorry if it seemed like bragging.

Well, I was bragging in my first post but I don’t think that I continued that in my reply. So its cool, I calmed down.

@harshk360 - wow, congrats on those impressive scores! Hope they receive them in time (they don’t guarantee they receive November scores in time for ED).

@Renomamma - I checked the College Board site and they say that they sent the scores to Cornell on 19th. Considering that its all done electronically, I think they might have even received my score by now and the self service site will take a day or two to reflect this.

btw I got a mail from Cornell on 18th telling me to submit the score by 26th.

@harshk360 Oh, that’s great to know! I just rush reported a subject score today; already have the required two subject tests but since it was even better and in my son’s potential major I thought it would be worth a try. I have to say that the admissions people seem very accommodating to give you until the 26th.

Hi,

My son received an email today requesting to meet an alumni. She said it was NOT an interview and if he was too busy it was no big deal. What is your take on this request? Would he be crazy not to meet with her? Do you think she reports back to anyone if he doesn’t meet? He applied to the engineering school.

Thanks

@Yomega Check back a few pages. We’ve discussed these alumni interviews pretty exhaustively. We don’t even know for sure if they report if they do meet; I’m guessing they don’t report if they don’t meet. I recommend you do it if you can, part of the goal is to get more background info to students who might be anxiously waiting.

@crowlady Thanks…yes, I did read those discussions but wasn’t sure if there was any consensus.

The CAAAN reps do submit narrative reports after their meetings, but the meetings are not interviews and they are not evaluative.

If the applicant does not wish to have a meeting, the CAAAN volunteer notes this on the Contact Report Form. The meetings are voluntary for the applicants, but I really cannot think of a reason to not attend, unless the distance were unreasonable.

The meeting is another opportunity to update Cornell with new info or provide info that applicant was not able to provide via the Common App. It can only help the applicant, but again, meetings are not evaluative.

If the meetings aren’t evaluative, what do they report on?

I had my interview a couple of weeks ago and it really wasn’t a big deal. I was asked a few general questions (e.g. why’d you choose your college/Cornell, interests, etc.), but the majority of the interview, which took about 2 hours (!), was him talking about Cornell. I asked him a lot more questions than he asked me so it was more or less an informational session. He jotted a few short notes down in response to my answers so I would guess something is reported to Cornell admissions, but nothing that will make or break your application.

My app status says my school report was received but not my transcript… My counselor sent them together. Does any else have this issue or know why it would do that?

Yeah Yalesoon, on my portal it says that my 1st Recommendation was received but that my 2nd one was not while my counselor sent them both at the same time.

Meanwhile, it says that my application is complete and that it has been sent to the admissions committee. So I’m not really worried.

On another note, I really hope Cornell recieved my October ACT before it was sent off to a rep. Or does anyone know if files are automatically updated for applicants?

@yalesoon@epicdud17
I met a similar problem. I sent an e-mail using feedback system on the portal and it all fixed up after about three days.
They probably just forgot to check the stuff.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. They didn’t email me to day anything was missing from my app, so I’m not worried about it.

I’m way more worried about them maybe not seeing my most recent ACT…

Is there any way to attach my resume if I only have my 10 activities listed? I am a participant in many more things-- but none of them are absolutely critical to my application, I think they would just show my involvement.

Has anyone else done this?

^ I just added extra activities in additional info, i wouldn’t submit a resume
