^ sounds like your school is very proactive. I’m sure there are some schools though that are less connected with adcoms and wouldn’t know to send in first quarter grades since it is not (to my knowledge) explicitly written anywhere that they are mandatory

hm yeah i guess that’s true well that’s all i had to share ahaha. maybe it’s possible Cornell went straight to the schools rather than telling the students to send in quarter grades? Because I never knew that my grades were sent until I asked the office to send them and they told me they were already sent

So nervous! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!

So nervous too!!! Whatever I am doing, it can remind me of Cornell! I know my chance is slim but I really like Cornell.

Did anyone applying to the hotel school not receive an applicant id yet? I’m asking for my friend who is freaking out

I wish i would have applied early… :(

Haters–I would have your friend phone admissions immediately. That is not a Hotel-related issue, but a university-wide issue. I am replying as if the friend applied ED. If RD, perhaps CU has not yet issued IDs, but the applicant ID should have been issued w/in days of application receipt.

I think you should. My friend is a recruited runner; she got her likely letter on August. Some recruited athlete even got their likely letter way back on March this year. If you don’t have anything at this point, just work hard on other applications, and you might end up at a better school!

(Hopefully) 10 more days! o: the anticipation is killing me

Also, I envy your friend @cicit123 haha. I emailed the coach about running and he never got back to me :(

There seems to be a lot of students being recruited for rowing on this forum! I love it! Also, I didn’t realize the controversy over sending first quarter grades! I wish my school was more proactive like some of your schools are. It’s almost difficult to get anything done where I go and, maybe it was just me, but I felt alone since I was applying early. My guidance counselor is still going over how to link the common app to naviance, which is slowly driving me insane. I know my friend got his likely letter about a month ago. It seems odd that they’d wait this long if they were going to send you one. If anything maybe you are admitted like the rest of us and not considered a “recruitment.” I believe rowing gets 16 recruitment spots but that is like fifth hand knowledge so don’t quote me on that.

ahh 10 more days i cant deal with it!!!
i know my school automatically sends in the first term grades to all the schools your applying to, but i was wondering if you guys knew how much they weight those grades cause it was my worst term yet?

@treehugger2014
my school also automatically sends in first quarter grades to early schools and 1st semester grades to the rest. Obviously I don’t exactly know how much they’re weighted but I would say it doesn’t look great to see a downward trend. Of course they know that one quarter does not represent the work we can do in an entire year but at the same time it wouldn’t look good to be getting all A’s and A-'s and then suddenly have a bunch of B’s. I’m sure though that if your grades just dipped a little that it shouldn’t impact you too much.

So did anyone’s guidance counselors get specifically asked for first quarter grades? I thought we established that cornell only asked for first quarter grades if they were on the fence about you, but no one seems to have been asked.

I am always amazed, and admittedly a bit jealous that so many here on cc get any info at all from colleges from their HS GCs. We hear absolutely nothing from our GC as far as feedback of any kind. So if there had been a call about first quarter grades, we would be the last to know:(

I am pretty sure my GC didn’t send the first quarter grades.

Around here, the result comes out at 3:30 AM!
So it’s technically ‘Friday the 13th’
And, I have an important Chemistry exam the next day! :-/

I asked GC today. She was not asked by Cornell and is not sending 1st quarter grades…as I thought. She also joked that maybe I should spend less time on CC. Lol.

Btw, guys did you write your supplemental essays for other unis you are applying?

On one hand, I feel like I should. On the other hand, I don’t want to waste my time on it until I see the results of my ED/EA unis/.

I haven’t started on material for other schools-I figure I have plenty of time to write a couple essays if I don’t get in. If I do get in, then I didn’t waste any time! Also, my current motivation for anything related to colleges other than Cornell is about 0…

So does anyone know for sure whether it’s the 12th or the 16th? I wish they’d just announce it already…
