Hey, I applied to CoE and I got rejected too. My stats were very similiar to yours - minus the research. I’m really disappointed and sad that I didn’t get deferred, but hey- at least it’s a definitive answer, right? I think my advice for prospective applicants is to make your essay as strong as possible. I recently reread my supplement and my commonapp essay, and although they don’t have any grammatical errors, I could’ve done a better job.

In my supplement I wrote about how I cut corners during my summer job and a janitor taught me that I had to think for the customer. As much as I love the hospitality industry, I ironically detest community service and that’s why I did not do any during my four years in high school.[/li]
