Official Cornell Fall 2015 Guaranteed Transfers (Class of 2018)

Can you guys see if it is GT?

The selection committee has just completed reviewing applications to the College of Arts and Sciences; I write to tell you that the committee recognized your potential and recommended that I encourage you to consider applying for transfer admission in the future.

If you are interested in pursuing the transfer option, we encourage you to apply to enter our college as a sophomore for fall 2015 after completing two semesters as a full-time student at another reputable college or university. To be a competitive transfer applicant as sophomore, you should pursue a full-time curriculum (taking 8 courses ) in the liberal arts and sciences. …

Is it GT? I also got the message “Within the next few days you will receive notification from the undergraduate college to which you’ve applied that you are being offered a transfer option. Please contact the college directly if you have any questions.”

I searched on internet about transfer option but never seen CAS people…

Also, how you guys know it is “guaranteed”? the letter never mentioned guaranteed…

It’s not Guaranteed…it’s conditional upon you meeting the requirements. I believe Cornell use to call it guaranteed but changed the name to conditional transfer option but ppl still seem to call it guaranteed.

I just received an email from the coordinator and he said

transfer option applicants’ applications are read separately, and they are not ‘competing’ (he really used ‘’) for spots with other applicants. Also, I asked if the second semester senior year grades matter and he said yes…

Wouldn’t this mean that we (transfer option applicants) will be competing each other?

@cho12341234‌ What do you mean by second semester senior grades? and no…not at all…it is practically guaranteed…if we hold up our end of the bargain (3.0 gpa or better) they will hold up their end of the bargain…and we should have no problems :)

P.S: I am going to speaks to one of the selection committee people (CALS) to ask them questions about schedules for the first year because I am very confused…so if anyone has any questions they want me to ask let me know

This transfer option is guaranteed provided that we hold up our end of the deal. I’m at school and can’t link right now, but there are many, many threads on this topic if you guys search for it. The admissions office changed the name a few years ago so that people who didn’t meet the requirements couldn’t argue over semantics.

We’re not competing over spots. We have them, for sophomore year, should we want them. Second semester senior grades matter in the same way that they’d matter if you got in RD–maintain decent grades and you’ll be fine!

If you guys are looking for a catch, there isn’t one. Get the GPA and take those classes and we can all see each other at Cornell next year

OK that sounds good !

Also, since we finish our application on march or before, the second semester grades of freshman year not matter right???

I would take the approach @cho12341234 that all grades matter to the extent that you do not want the GT or Acceptance after the GT to be rescinded. Just keep up your already good work and you should be fine!

Yup, it’s a good deal! And I think second semester grades should still meet the GT requirements just in case–so a 3.0 semester minimum and no B-'s or lower.

By the way, have you guys submitted your deposits for your first-year schools yet? I just did, and man, I feel weird. Like part of my brain is still fixated on running around North Campus, and another part is reminding me that I have to sign up for my college’s freshman orientation soon. Yikes…it’s getting real.

Guys just wanted to let you know 2nd semester grades count up to the midterms. They require midyear reports.

Anyone slightly worried about end of the year high school grades? No C’s for me, but definitely a drop in grades…
Also, is there a facebook group for the guaranteed transfers? It would be cool to meet some of you.
And lastly, any GTs to ILR?
Thanks!

Hey guys  When you submitted the transfer option, we are not supposed to receive a confirmation email right?

I’m from New York and am a GT for ILR. I think we should definitely start a fb group so we can all start talking. I’m having trouble deciding where to go my first year.

Someone should contact Ian- the guy in charge of transfers and ask him to get a fb group going

I am 2014 GT AEM and I will be attending Union College next year. Like many LACs, they combine intro to micro and macro economics into a single semester course. The Union course description is as follows:

ECO-101. Introduction to Economics. (Fall, Winter, Spring; Staff). Basic microeconomic model of price determination; impact of market structure on price and output decisions by firms; role of the public sector in an economy; basic macroeconomic model of national income determination; impact of fiscal and monetary policies on employment levels, price stability, and economic growth; international economic relationships.

Before I contact Cornell, anybody have a perspective on whether or not this one course will satisfy the AEM GT micro-econonmics requirement?

So I got the GT offer for Cornell AEM, and its nice to meet all of you guys!

I made a facebook group awhile ago, but I was unable to comment on this thread (my account wasn’t activated, so I’ve just been creeping up on here.)

Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/</a> groups/ 524719857647688/

I just think the group would be easier to communicate within, and it would be lovely to get to know all of you since being a transfer can be a tough process (but its Cornell, so its worth it!) so it would be nice to do this together.

EDIT: So apparently, CC blocks facebook group links, so just search on Facebook "Cornell Guaranteed Transfer Fall 2015, or privately message me about it!)

I can’t find the fb group ^^

Hey guys! I posted a couple pages back, I’m a GT for ILR in the fall of 2015. To get to the Facebook group just do facebook .com /groups/ then copy and paste the number at the end of the URL that @TheClown posted if you can’t find it when you search for the group :)

www (dot) Facebook (dot) com / groups / 524719857647688

Just fill in the spaces and dots, and that should work!

Hey guys! The Facebook group is a great idea–thanks @TheClown‌ for setting it up

As for AEM/CALS requirements, I’d probably email the admissions office to clarify or send in a course evaluation form at the beginning of June.
