I feel like people on here are generally all geniuses.

Hi! I applied to Cornell, and I am not a genius! In fact, I’m about 99% sure that I’m gonna get reeEEEEJECTED, so take hope, y’all! (College of Arts and Sciences as a History major, by the way…)

I got waitlisted from UChicago yesterday, so… yeah. The last two days have mostly been composed of me sobbing, eatin’ cake, reading Civil War novels and listening to banjo music.

Wait, @lydiamanglin, how did you find out?! What’s diversity housing?

@book05 - I am cetainly not a genius, just unwaveringly optimistic and persistent. Sometimes the “normal people” just sit back and read all the statuses from the outrageously high overachievers, but never post anything lol

@thehistoryhacker - Yesterday, I received an invitation (via email) to their “Diversity Hosting Weekend”, which is only for accepted students. In that invitation, there’s a section saying you’ve been accepted into their Class of 2018. I think it’s similar to the early results that Vanderbilt provided for it’s Mosaic Weekend. Apparently only a really small percentage of students receive an invitation, so I wouldn’t freak out and think that you’re not going to be accepted; it’s virtually a likely. STAY POSITIVE and don’t think your self-worth is a reflection of your future school!! Good luckkkkk :)

ajg1996 nothing here in California on ILR either… nervous here, too.

@lydiamanglin Aw, thanks And CONGRATULATIONS! That’s great! :)

I got a likely letter too! It’s crazy because just yesterday I was mourning my rejection at MIT and my waitlist at Caltech but now I have hope!!! By the ways mine was for CAS, it was the Tanner Dean’s scholarship (about 40 people/year). I’m so happy and excited, I love Cornell a lot. Good luck to everyone! At least 90% of people who get accepted to Cornell don’t get likely letters so I’m sure a lot of you who didn’t get them will be accepted too. All the best!

@TheHistoryHacker: Oh GOD I KNOW YOU. Anyways that was creepy. I am nervous as well.

A question to everyone out there: Did anyone from California even receive a likely letter??? Better yet the Bay Area?

@akashaka: I got rejected from MIT and Caltech. And also half the people here got likely letters. I am still in mourning.

@APushed96 WHOA MAN YOU KNOW ME? DO I KNOW YOU? I PROBABLY KNOW YOU. HIIIIII THERE

HALF got likely letters?! Noooooooo 8-X

@APushed96 @book05 @mistanervous
Don’t worry about it guys, I feel the same way as you all. Got rejected by a really top school SCEA and am waiting on the rest of my schools to come. And the funny thing is that Cornell is my best chance at one of the non-state schools on my list… I’ll be certainly mourning after April 1st but for the time being, lets stay put and ride it out…
Congrats to all that have received likely letters though!

@APushed96 @TheHistoryHacker No, half the people WHO POSTED got likely letters. Probably tons of people didn’t get a likely but didn’t post anything because this discussion doesn’t pertain to them. Also there’s no need to be bummed about MIT and Caltech, those are impossible for normal people to get into anyways.

I’m just a 1/2-white 1/2-Indian guy with 3.98 GPA and a 34 ACT who submitted some really great research with most of his applications. MIT and Caltech get tons of people like me and tons of people who are better than me so I’m not taking it personally. Cornell is an amazing school and I am very happy to know that I will have the option of going there in the fall! Good luck to all - may the odds be ever in your favor!

@akashaka are you a minority?

@iloverainbowsyo I’m an “over-represented minority”. 1/2-white and 1/2-Indian (Asian kind) :)

@akashaka haha nice, congrats!
was it a letter or e-mail?

@iloverainbowsyo Thanks! It was a letter. I can upload a pic of it if you want…

@akashaka lol no you don’t have to XD is there a date on it? i’m really hoping for one

@iloverainbowsyo It was addressed on March 13 but I got it this morning

@iloverainbowsyo Don’t stress out if you don’t get one! Apparently, only 40 people/class get it (dividing by the yield rate of ~50% they probably send out 80 letters). To an applicant pool which is over 40,000 people. Chillax

My S goy LL to Rice, Penn and Cornell !!! lol, we don’t know where to even star?? He’s waiting for more
