Other

Country (if international applicant):

School Type: Public, competitive (people get into lots of good schools)

Ethnicity: Indian

Gender: M

Income Bracket: 80k - 100k

Reflection

Strengths: Good ECs for engineering, wanting to be a college professor in the future to help out, GPA, HS Transcript (courses), lots of love

Weaknesses: Essays? SAT score, SAT II (they’re okay, but not outstanding), bad Science score on ACT

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Surprised. Maybe Guitar Hero Club got them? Haha. Don’t know.

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: First thing to be accepted to. Applying to elsewhere has to come to a stop, doesn’t it?

General Comments:
Wow. I am so happy and now can’t properly study for my Bio test tomorrow! Who cares (they might, but I’ll just spend all night studying if I can’t calm down now)! WEEEEEEE!!!
If you plan on applying to the college, make sure you have loads of ECs which match what you want to be. Err… I need to start making cookies or something for all of the adcoms. But I don’t know how to make em’!!!

Use my stats only as help into getting into Cornell. Do not think that if you don’t have the same grades as I do that you can’t make it. Just work harder, write better essays than I did, tell Cornell that you are right for them, and get lots of love from those around you.
Cornell rules, enough said.

Cornell cals here i come yaaay

Country (if international applicant): Singapore

Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): first generation

Reflection
I was initially worried that my SAT1 score would be considered “average” by international applicants’ standards. Probably helped that Cornell supposedly doesn’t look at the writing component (which was my worst component).

Also, once again, essays are really important. I feel that a well-written essay is not one that is just “good”, but is one that also complements the rest of the application. I believe that my choice of topic allowed me to put my achievements in context and made them seem all the more significant.

Anyway, congrats to everyone who got in. Sorry to those who got deferred/rejected. Keep striving and things will work out in the end! =D

@branhs2012: Honestly I’m extremely surprised you didnt get in… You have amazing test scores and grades, and great strength of curriculum. Even your ECs seem good, although not amazing they are better than some of the people that have been accepted thus far. Unless your essay was really bad, and I mean really bad, I think you shouldve definitely gotten in
