Official Dartmouth 2015 ED Decisions

Well, it seems like this has been a pretty tough ED round, especially considering it was a record low acceptance rate!

Congratulations to those who were accepted, best of luck to those who were deferred, and for those rejected, it is nothing to be ashamed of and I am sure you will find a school that you love (the same goes for most people who were deferred).

Teacher Recommendation: my french teacher, who i had for 3 years, wrote an incredible rec, the other rec wasn’t as good but it wasn’t bad either
Counselor Rec: incredible, she knew since my freshman year that I wanted to go to Dartmouth and knew me well
Additional Rec: I got the headmaster of my school to write me a recommendation, I never saw it but I’m fairly certain it helped. My peer rec was also awesome
Interview: I thought it went incredibly well, even though I said ‘The Phantom Tollbooth’ was my favourite book. When our area’s Dartmouth representative called to congratulate me on getting in she told me she’d read my interviewer’s comments on me and that there was no way I wouldn’t get in with an interview like that!

Other:
State (if domestic applicant): Connecticut
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public (1200 kids approx, 300 in my graduating class)
Ethnicity: half Hispanic
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: upper middle class
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Triple legacy (Grandpa, Mom, Uncle), URM (Hispanic)

Reflection: I know people always say it’s easier to get in when you’re a legacy, but I hope I can prove that you do still have to be qualified if you’re going to get in
Strengths: Essays, Interview, Hooks, too many extracurriculars
Weaknesses: GPA maybe… I hated junior year and it showed in my grades (I had all A’s freshman and sophomore year)
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: i’m awesome!
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: n/a

General Comments: I am so happy, Dartmouth is my dream school. In my interview, I told my interviewer honestly that I couldn’t imagine not going here because I’ve been in love with it since I knew what it was, and I think I got the point across pretty well. :)
