Waitlisted…what are the chances of being admitted off of it? :((
Waitlisted here too. I tried to call them to ask and they said they can’t answer until Monday, so I’ll ask then.
Historically, it seems from about 1,000 that are offered waitlist, 700 accept their position on the waitlist, and 0-100 get off the list.
Does the timing of accepting the position on the waitlist affect chances at all?
No, it does not
Waitlist too. Cracking nerve!
Hey, people. I hope all of us get lucky. Anyway, do you know if Dartmouth is reluctant about accepting students needing significant financial aid from the wait list ?
waitlisted is the pits
@nyawaj If you go on their website, they claim to be need-blind, so I do not think needing financial aid has any impact on acceptances off of the waitlist Source: http://admissions.dartmouth.edu/facts-advice/faqs
@charcoalatey2021 I am an international, so I am a bit concerned.
as an international student and the school being need aware to international students, the amount of aid you need may affect your getting off of the waitlist
well, shoot me.
@johonmilla They said they can’t answer the chances of getting admitted off the waitlist till Monday? But don’t they need to know how many students are committing to Dartmouth, which means after May 1?
Waitlisted as well. Anyone planning on submitting any additional materials or updates? Think that will be helpful or come off as too pushy?
How many people are on the waitlist this year?
there was a 10.4% admit rate this year
http://www.thedartmouth.com/article/2017/03/college-accepts-2092-to-class-of-2021
well, chances are bleak af. Assuming the Class of 2020 numbers carry on to this year, it is literally hopeless. Overall yield is not very helpful. But looking at only RD yield rate, it was 38.2% last year.
This year, 2092 acceptances were made, from which 555 acceptances were in ED. So, 1537 acceptances were sent for RD. If yeild remains the same, 587ish will matriculate. Then, the Class of 2021 will have 1142 students matriculating, more or less. Since Dartmouth aims for a class of 1120 students, I guess, it really is hopeless, lol.
Do we have an update on this?
guy1234 - I don't believe we will have any real answers until after May 1st. At that time, admissions will know whether they can accept any waitlisted students.
@nyawaj not to artificially get your hopes up, but you forgot an important part of the equation. There were 35 students that left dartmouth atfter putting their deposit in (presumably because they got off the waitlist at an even better school)
I did the calculations on my own also, and I found out that this year’s acceptance was based exactly on last year’s yield. If the yield decreases at all, we get in. If it increases at all, no one does.
